How to Make FREE Horsepower!!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

There aren’t many times where you can put some time into your car, and make horsepower without buying car parts. In this video, I spent a good 7 hours into my upper and lower intake manifolds where made everything smooth. Any time that the air that is rushing into the engine has to slow down for a bend or stop at a shelf, is lost power. There is a company that offers this porting service for $700USD exactly what I am going to be doing today, which is why I wanted to see if I could get the same results without spending a dime. That being said, I do have these tools from when I ported the cylinder head on my big turbo MINI ( • How to Port and Polish... ). All of the safety equipment and tools that were used in this video can be found below.

Just install active exaust cutouts to bypass your catylytic converters and wire it up to a hidden switch. If they go far enough to request an inspection you just have to say running them open is intended for use on track only. Will only cost a $200-$400 depending on how many cats you have, the bore and where you install the bypasses.

A dyno comparison would be a good idea - the problem is the hp "gain" would be within the variance of error and therefore will not be sensitive enough to pick up any of the small gain or loss seen. Any change seen would be the result of dyno variances between runs. Swallow the loss of 7 hours of your time and go put on the bolt ons with a tune that will make a measurable difference.

To all the peoples that are saying this is not much gain, that is dumb, because, at the end of the day, it's a gain, not a loss. So definitely it's an improvement, and it's free and easy to do if you move your asses and do the work by yourselves. Now, you will definitely need to tune the ECU to keep the improvement, as most of the cars tend to correct the ECU settings and will roll it back to the factory tune, once it sees what was done to it, so keep that in mind

What can work even better is to port and polish the cylinder head too, but that is not for everybody and it can cost you a lot if you mess it up. To get the most out of it, port and polish the throttle body, intake manifold, cylinder head (Intake and exhaust ports), and the exhaust manifold or headers. That will make a really nice difference, and can be done for free if you don't want /need any special porting patterns

Nobody said to runaway from work, just to work on your car.😅 I have been "building" my car in my free time, of course, and guess what, it runs and sounds better. Just a valve delete from my intake and porting of the throttle body, and intake gaskets matching, made it sound like it had a high flow air filter, and now with the k&n sounds even better then other stock cars, with just an k&n air filter.

Not sure its worth the effort, most of us don't have the tool or confidence/expertise/steady hands but more importantly, time and patience to do this!! esp with its questionable gains. But its the first time I seen one go to such extend for their car and 'free horsepower', But I am sure it was worth it, cos inside you will know you are one of a kind and probably the only 370Z roaming the streets with a smoothed out inner manifold! haha~

Question though: doing it manually at home by hand... my concern is that you'd end up with slightly different sized ports just due to human error and "eye-balling it". Something that I want to mention is that the plastic didn't get any smother at the end, and that can affect the airflow, if you don't have the willingness or the patience to go all the way and sand down to a polished look the plastic, you could use a heat gun to "melt" the rough surface that you got left with!!

@@1330dai I'm pretty sure that on port injection you can polish the ports before the injectors, as it will accelerate the air flow in to the engine, but you have to leave them rough-ish beyound the injectors to help the mixture atomization as for the exhaust the only advantage of a polished surface is to get the carbon build up delayed.

Melting would just cause more irregularities bcoz no way could u do it uniform like sanding but u only have to go to a certain grit not mirror finish like factory just think what a alloy one looks like inside they are not mirror finish &i know for fact going mirror polish on alloy in a plenum can actually reduce power as there needs to be a little roughness to encourage a swirl effect for better air/fuel atomisation then straight turbulence the only free way is if u know how to open the ports just enough to make power too big but n it also has a negative effect then port match everything same as the exhaust manifold n exhaust ports

It might improve performance, as the cats are stealing some hp, but that it's illegal almost in any country, unless it's for track use, I'm sure you would gain more with a bigger bore exhaust then the stock. In most cases, the mufflers are just what they are called, mufflers, but the stock ones are quite restrictive, depends on the model, they can have the pipe shaped in "S" or whatever, so it takes more time for the exhaust to get out.

Doing this by itself isn’t going to make any difference, especially on modern engines. Usually this is only done if you’re using oversized valves/wilder cams.

This wont give you a single hp, dont recommend doing this. A free to "increase hp" guide is to clean your throttle valve, check tire pressure..

  • @tthams73
    @tthams732 жыл бұрын

That’s a ton of work for ZERO noticeable performance gains. Nothing you’re doing there will demonstrate a statistically significant in crease in HP on the Dyno. “Smooth” does not equate into power. Especially if you decrease velocity. I’ve seen more intake manifolds destroyed by professionals “porting and polishing.” Sure it looks great, but they all too often destroy velocity. Without a method of flow testing your intake while modifying; leave well enough alone.

Milanmastracci, when I saw you polishing the plastic “imperfection”, I realized if hundreds of people watching this would do the same job and waste their time to gain 0.66 hp with a potential risk of contaminating the intake system. My advice is DO NOT do this procedure!

Dropful take the bolts out and lift... if you don’t know where the bolts are then you shouldn’t do this because you need more research. Learn your engine before you play with it.

It’s gonna be bigger than you think if you do the full porting job correctly. There are reasons why people are pay z1 300$ for this intake and why people have been porting cars longer than you were born. Keep up the good work @milanmastracci I found your channel and subscribed because of this video and the other guy that has the same video is no where near as professional as you are. Maybe do a full port jobs on heads and intake and put all these lazy haters to rest.
