How To Make Custom Concrete Countertops using GFRC
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video you will learn how to make extremely strong and great looking concrete countertops using GFRC spray and hand casting techniques. Admix used is the Forton VF-774 concrete polymer system. This acrylic polymer additive system strengthens the concrete measurably. Check out how strong these countertops are! • Video
Forton® VF-774 is an all acrylic, co-polymer dispersion (51% solids) specifically formulated for the GFRC production process. VF-774 is UV stable. It is further formulated to be stable and durable in the high pH Portland cement-based GFRC composite.

The Primary Benefits of Using Forton® VF-774 are:
• Elimination of the seven day wet cure required to achieve the maximum strengths of the GFRC composite.
• Significant improvements in the long-term durability of the GFRC composite, especially the maintenance of the long-term flexural strain to failure property, i.e. ductility of the composite.

Great idea! Thank you.
Great vid. How will you repair or change the air lines and electrical if you need to? Shelves are glued on, might be hard to service.

The top shelf has access points which can be removed. Thank you for watching!
what is diameter/size of spray ?
what that weight stress test proof with this pallete distributing forces at the edges. lol
Great video! I'm about to build my own concrete kitchen top, but I'd like it to be thin. What's the minimum thickness I could use? 3/4 inch could be ok? It would lay on all the cabinets, so I guess It won't get much stressed. Or maybe could I reinforce it with steel, or even lay the slab on plywood? Thanks for helping!

Hi, from Argentina! I do love al your job and techniques. What I really want to know, is the correct combination between air pressure, air flow and air nozzle size (I have three, 4, 6 and 8 milimeters, in order to obtain the finest concrete face coat finish. Here in Argentina we don’t have enough information about almost anything. Thank you in advance from a big fan of you in Argentina! Gonzalo Molina

Is the measurement of "Parts" done by volume or weight? For example 100 parts cement, 85 parts sane Silica sand, is it weight or volume that determines the measurement?

"parts" refers to proportions so it doesn't matter if it's by weight or volume. Works both ways.
What is the nozzle size for the mist coat? Trying to get a starting point for mine. Thanks

I don't think that durability is not only related to strength as you showed on the last part of the video! Mainly resistance to freeze and thaw, abrasion, carbonation, staining etc ... constitutes durability. Anything related to aging of the concrete!
Can this be done on a strong table or does it have to be done on a floor?
@smoothon
7 жыл бұрын
If the table can hold the weight of the mold and casting, yes.
What glue is used to install the panels? Is it just cold silicone?
@smoothon
Жыл бұрын
Silicone adhesive sealant is used.
What adhesive did you use?
@smoothon

A silicone construction adhesive was used.
Great video, when muted.
