INGREDIENTS
2 tbsp. butter
2 carrots
1 zucchini
1/2 onion
1/2 cup bell peppers
2 cloves garlic
2 egg yolks
6 potatoes
salt and pepper
(Extras: hotdogs, broccoli, shrimp, fish head, hotdog, orange, lobster claw, chicken bone, etc)
For Frying:
3 tbsp. flour
2 eggs
1 cup panko bread crumbs
vegetable oil
Mince your vegetables (carrots, zucchini, onion, bell peppers, garlic) and sauté them in butter on medium high heat until they are soft and cooked through.
In a separate pot, boil water and add your skinned and quartered potatoes for 10-15 minutes. Drain the water and separate the potatoes in a bowl. Mash using a fork. Combine your sautéed vegetables with your mashed potatoes and mix until evenly dispersed throughout.
Mold your croquettes by taking a palmful of the potatoes and veggies mix (after it has cooled down) and form it into an oval and circular shape. You can make any shape you'd like!
Here's where you can really get creative. Mako Mankanshoku puts all kinds of crazy ingredients in her croquettes in Kill La Kill and so can you! We used a hotdog and cut the top into equal sized sections to recreate a calamari look.
When your croquettes are formed, place them in the freezer for 10 minutes so they solidify. Meanwhile, heat a large pot of vegetable oil to 350 degrees F to prepare for frying.
Take your croquettes out from the freezer and coat them with flour, an egg wash, then panko bread crumbs. Once that's done, carefully place them into the pot to fry for 30 seconds to a minute. The time will vary depending on exactly how hot your oil is and how large your croquettes are. Check frequently until you get that perfect shade of brown.
Remove the croquettes from the oil onto a paper towel to remove any excess oil. Serve piping hot with Tonkatsu sauce, ketchup, or whatever you'd like!

YUM! These croquettes (except that fish head) were delicious. Of course we've been reading your comments... and all we'll say is that we filmed two episodes back to back of our top requested feasts. The first was fried (croquettes)... and other was... pie'd. Any guesses on next week's Feast? ;)

Just tried this recipe. Only thing I would add is a mixture of ginger and garlic with sautéing the vegetables to add more flavor. I also added a mix of honey and soy sauce to the mixture and it really helped the flavor.
I love Kill La Kill.

It's actually a mistake to put fried ingredients on contact with tissue paper when being dried. When they get in contact in the tissue while drying, the oil is evaporated due to the heat of the potato and it becomes soggy even if you double fry.

I totally just made these after seeing this video yesterday! I modified the recipe (no onion, 1 bell pepper, and 4 cloves of garlic) and they turned out great! Super delicious and better than I was expecting. I love Kill La Kill and knew I had to try this when I saw it. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

I made normal croquettes the other day and the prep took forever but the results were worth it. Soooo good.

I just finished kill la kill two days ago in a 2 day binge watching marathon and omg, I went to an all you can eat sushi place with my friends and I tried a croquettes for the very first time. awsome recipe! I got to try it out today. it was delicious and worth the wait :3 just one tip for whoever is cooking : dont forget that the filling is fully cooked, so the frying part is just to crisp up the outside. if it fries for too long it will break apart (I had a few come out like that ^^') but awesome recipe and a awsome snack!

+KorianBossMonster Nope. The word 'croquette' is based on French and pronounced croh-kett like baguette ('Croquet' the sport is prounced 'crow-kay'.). If you're speaking Japanese, then the word for it is 'korokke' ( コロッケ) which is when it's pronounced like crow-kay (more like 'koh-ro-ke' but close enough').
