This is a brilliant way to keep those paintings that I've hidden away that didn't work out but didn't want to throw away. Thank you. So much fun!

This was so timely for me. I have always cropped and reused paintings I'm not thrilled with and turned them into small paintings or cards. Recently I was asked to donate to a recent fund raiser and I cropped a painting and framed in an 8 x 10 frame. It sold at auction for nearly $100; all going to the charity. I was honored to say the least.

What a brilliant idea. Thanks so much for sharing, I will no longer bin anything without leaving it for a while a re visit using these ideas.
Love these ideas, Karen. I just recently started cutting up some of my older pieces that weren't good enough as a whole for my Etsy shop. I can't remember the last time I bought a card. Thanks for the additional inspiration!
What a wonderful idea. I have two small frames and was wondering what to paint to put in them. I'm going to dig out my paintings to see if there's anything that I can use. Thank you!
Absolutely LOVED this!!!!
🤦🏻♀️why didn’t I think of this? I am so excited to pull out all my “rubbish” and some mats and see what gems I can find! Thank you so much for this idea!!!!

Thank you Karen, that was very inspirational!
So the beauty is in the way you see things more than in the things themselves. Always discovering new beauty inside the previous one -thogh it is also lovely- Yes, I am one of those saying:" DON'T CUT THAT ONE!"- WELL, THEN AT LEAST DON'T give tthem as cards away- let them be as mini paintings - remaining permanently.

THanks for yet another wonderful video, Karen. You've been a real inspiration to me since I discovered your channel 2 years ago. Watercolor was always my nemesis until you showed me how to let it do it's own things and since then I have had nothing but complete enjoyment, and even successes with it .Thankyou for your generosity in sharing your talent with us.

I started as a card maker 15 years ago and have lots of tools that help make cards. Bone folders, paper trimmers, score board, etc. Thank you for the great idea of turning some of my paintings into cards. I do a lot of festivals and craft shows and need some items to sell that aren’t too expensive.

Marvelous!
I’ve tried this once before, it’s very satisfying to be able to rescue parts of a painting and take pleasure in seeing something you were frustrated with turn into something you love. You can also use the left overs by cutting them down into bookmarks by writing a poem on top with a micron pen, even if you don’t have perfect handwriting it still looks magical. (Same for journaling pages, you could turn your discarded pieces left over into a base layer for a mixed media collage, Andrea Ockey Parr (sp?) does some amazing collage using acrylic paint backgrounds, cut out text from books, recipes, fabric with frayed edges etc.). Thank you, every time I see your video it makes me want to take out my brushes!

Hello! This is great fun. Placing a square the same size as the opening, you can remove the card and then easily cut around the square and you'll have your piece ready to tape behind your frame. I also make cards so I have many dies to cut out frames or windows in the card fronts ❤️❤️❤️🤗

Thank you for so generously sharing your time and talent!! It was just amazing to see new paintings come to life as you cropped and moved around the original!!! You truly came out with some extraordinary ones that were delightful. I especially love the very dark against the light shining through…but….have to say the flowers and bluebells/sun were gorgeous also, Karen. Such talent you have….. Again, thank you for teaching and helping those of us without access to classes or personal instruction!! You are not only generous and giving spirit but a very gentle soul… Nancy Rolfe Texas

Such a helpful tutorial Karen, thank you.
Thanks for this! I’ve been making cards for years and started cutting up some of my many failures last year,it’s so exciting seeing the little masterpieces emerge from the mess! I also reuse the plainer wash areas as complimentary mounts to go behind the mini- masterpiece ,so only a little original painting is going to waste-this helps with my reluctance to practice on expensive paper knowing that it’s not wasted!😅
