How to Make Bullet Lube and Lube Sticks For Your Lubrisizer
Спорт
Produced for the Cast Bullet Association, this video describes the process of making bullet lube for use in a "lubrisizer" (a device used for injecting lubricant into the grooves of cast bullets) using the NRA formula of Alox plus beeswax mixed 50/50. An easy method for the creation of perfectly formed "lube sticks" is also covered.

Hey Don, thanks for putting this video together, super helpful! I have always enjoying making my own wax, but now that I got a Lyman I wanted to find a way to make the proper mold for the tube. This was the perfect ticket!

Good video. Now that Magma has gone out of business, I need to make lube sticks for my Star Luber-Sizer. I checked Ebay for alox but I can't find any solid alox like you use. Do you have a link to the supplier? Thanks

Hi Bill, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, like you, I am now also having difficulty finding an Alox 350 source. When I made this video 6 years ago I obtained it from an eBay seller (forgot which one). Fortunately, when I made my batch, I made enough to last me for years, so I don't feel immediate pressure for a solution myself. But, if you do find a source and are willing to share it, I'd sure appreciate you sharing it here so others can benefit. Failing that, perhaps people can substitute something like Molybdenum grease for the Alox in this recipe. I haven't tried it, but I've heard that works.
How about a recipe for candle wax and vaseline ? Any one tried it ?

Thanks for the question. Based on tests the NRA did many years ago, ordinary wax (like candle) has too low of a burning temperature, so it's not recommended as a lube component. Some people do use it anyway, however.
What cooking spray do you use.? I've tried several and my lube is difficult to remove from the tube.

I sprayed mine with the product called "Pam" Kurt. It worked very well.
