How to Make Boots Look Badass

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Badass. It's a word used to describe something or someone who's intimidating, impressive, or simply has a presence which demands respect. The clothes we wear can convey this attitude, just imagine a leather-clad Hells Angel and the immediate response upon seeing him. So how can we possibly add a little more badass look to a pair of boots? I've found that it's really a matter of texture and color. For example, these Taylor Stitch Ranch Boots are handsome on their own: waterproof suede, a natural welt, it makes for a good-looking boot! However, if you want to turn up the Black Sabbath on your pair of suede boots I'll show you how in this video!

Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well, and allows you to buy less and buy better.

I must admit doing this to a new pair of boots would be hard for me, but I have used this technique for restoring older boots(and hats) ..I've found that using wool swabs with leather dye makes the process much easier and allows the dye to penetrate a little deeper.

This is definitely the sort of thing I want to try myself. I've just ordered a pair of WWII reproduction roughout boots, and they basically have a natural finish. There are some other videos doing similar, and I'll absolutely want them to be darker than they come when they arrive. So, assuming they fit well (or I can get the right fit after one or two exchanges), I'll be darkening the whole shoe and oiling the leather to help it patina well.

Just tried this with some desert tan roughout combat boots. They’ll never be dressy anyway, and the dark waxy look they have now should look better for longer. The water proofing after waxing is much better than the spray waterproof era for suede or roughout too. I’ve tried with snow seal and with melting beeswax into the nap. Very similar looks except the snow seal leaves the leather a little more pliable.

Your music is a really good match for your brand. Regarding this video, I love experimenting and making our gear more customized to our own personalities. My sorrel chukkas came stock in a nubuck upper. Months later I applied Renovator and shoe cream. The result is a standard looking leather upper that repairs very easily with a touch of conditioner and a brush.

Awesome job! I Love waxing suede or rough out boots. The Pigeon Tree Crafting x Santalum Collab 2 Boots have you do this but use a hair dryer when applying the wax and do multiple coats. Also, you can wax a pair again once a lot of the first application has worn off. I've done it with just my fingers as well but then let the boots dry overnight before brushing them. To scared to dye the welt and soles though!

I would say just wear them and have them develop that character over time. It all depends on what you want out of them/personal preference. I know some people want that rugged look out of the box. I guess you can go ahead and do something like that or just buy them darker (if available). The only problem is that those dark spots and wear marks that come from use will be a little less noticable since the boots will be darkened. Idk, something about a lighter leather developing wear marks gives it more character and depth. Also doing something like that to a new pair of boots/shoes is a tough one. What if you don't like the outcome? There's no going back.

Now I'm thinking, should I do this to my dark olive suede Thursday Captains? They're kind bad ass as is. Hmm.

Did you ever do it? I have some dark olive green blundstones I’m considering doing it to. Not sure how the green will look darkened.

If I color them bright red will they the invoke a primal feeling of being poisonous? Asking for a friend.

poor boots. well, I tend to baby my shoes and polish and nourish the surfaces and alway use shoetrees. but if you like the rugged look and texture of the wax combination I would use your method. great video and one many will inspire to their project

Interesting video but can’t say I’d actually do this to a pair of boots I actually paid money for. However if someone wants to give me a free pair I’d love to fuck with em.

These would look awesome IF you went back and reapplied the dye to the welt/goodyear stitch more evenly with a toothbrush (as you stated in the video).... right now it looks blotchy and like sh*t. The wax on the upper is great.

I’ve heard this before, and in the world of boots they’re definitely the most sleek and dainty.

If I don't like them why would I buy them? Seems like something someone with too much money, time, and vanity would do.
