How to make bisque Stamps | Pottery Tips and Tricks
This is my way of making textured stamps, the possibilities with this technique are endless!
The clay I use is Laguna 65, a white stoneware for cone 6.
I hope you find this inspiring and go and make your own original stamps.

Monique, this is brilliant! I'm going to give it a try. I think I could do this without using my left arm since I'm not supposed to right now. Such a great idea!

Don't be afraid...it's just clay. 😀 Have fun!
These are a great idea! mine have all been carved in the past, i will give these a go. i have made a clay roll like a mini rolling pin with carved ocean design in it to repeat a pattern. i think this would work well. even throw a tube and slip the design onto it, to then roll over a slab. you've got me thinking!! thanks Monique

Make slip with vinegar instead of water. It wets without puffing the clay up, therefore no cracking away from the slab. Run a soft fine brush, barely damp, over the points that stick up from the slip trail ends.

Thank you for your feedback. I don't see why I would do that, my slip hardley ever cracks away from the slab and it doesn't puff up. I also do not have these points from the trail ends because my slip is the right constistency. So I don't see the need to add vinegar. I will try it sometime to explore if there is a difference. I will let you know okay? Thanks!

Love your videos and they are very informative. Love your comphy wardrobe. Question: can I use kiln clay like air dry clay? I don’t have a kiln, but I like to work with air dry clay. Just paint them.
@nukuaceramicsbonaire
2 ай бұрын
Thank you Kay! Sorry, no. Clay for ceramics/pottery needs to be fired to high temperatures for the clay to transform into 'stone'. Maybe you can look for a ceramic store or artist that can fire for you. Much of my comphy wardrobe is also homemade. Comphy and airy is important in the Caribbean. 😀

why not sand them down when they are dry to level them out?
@nukuaceramicsbonaire
2 ай бұрын
That is a possibility, however that would flatten the trailed slip and I prefer it rounded. Just preference.
Less work to carve a drawing, stoke it and eventually reverse....You'll have 2 stamps: a positive and a negative...

Thanks for chiming in! That is also a good way to do it!
