    You put your flaked grains through your mill???? I accidentally did that once and my rollers got jambed with flaked oats on the edges. What a mess. Roller wouldn't roll, mill wouldn't mill. You haven't had that problem?

    I know this is a broad span of information, and most viewers will do more research before attempting. But it is always necessary to teach monitoring the actual progress of the fermentation with a hydrometer, rather than simply waiting 1 week, as you risk bottling a struggling active fermentation and therefore, bottle explosions. Stay safe everyone!

    @DannieKamete

    Hops are for balancing the sweetness of the malt. They're also for preserving beer. Before hops were used, a spice mixture was used instead, which served the sane function as hops. These beers were known as gruit. Beer by definition must have hops or something similar, otherwise it's some kind of cider or wine. There are low hops beers like wheat beers, sours and stouts. Take a look at the IBU of the beer (international bitterness unit). Hops are what gives bitterness.

    @@steampressedpiston4634 yes "gruit. Instead of hops, you use a spice mixture called gruit which is "used for bittering and flavouring beer, popular before the extensive use of hops. The terms gruit and grut ale may also refer to the beverage produced using gruit. Today, however, gruit is a colloquial term applied to a beer seasoned with gruit-like herbs." Look up who sells gruit in your area. Alternatively look up the lowest IBU beer with very little hops so as to be imperceptible
