How to Make Beer Can Chicken in a Pit Boss
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Welcome back to Anderson's SmokeShow! Today we are smoking beer can chickens! Seasoned and smoked to perfection using my Pit Boss 5 Series Vertical Pellet Smoker! The results were fall off the bone tender and juicy beyond belief!
Don't start your cook off with a dirty grill or smoker! Get yourself a GOOD bristle-free grill brush like the ones sold by Grillaholics: www.grillaholics.com/?ref=AND... (Be sure to use coupon code SMOKESHOW to save 20%)
Pellet of Choice: Pit Boss Classic Blend (Pecan, Hickory, and Mesquite)
I started off by trimming the necks and tails off the chickens. Rinsed and dried. Used avocado oil as a base and applied Uncle Steve's Shake Gator Shake on one chicken and Sucklebusters Clucker Dust on the other! This beer can chicken recipe is great!!
Smoked these at 225F for 1 hour, then increased the temperature to 275F until the internal temp in the breast over 165F.
These beer in the butt chickens were so tender that they were falling apart! This smoked chicken was so juicy as you can see in the 4K video! Absolute PERFECTION!

@@coastemac there are quite a few claims that a beer can chicken doesn’t do anything “additional” to the chicken... I completely disagree and using a potato or onion in the neck helps lock in that moisture. Glad you and the family liked it!

Great video man. Just like you, I am too a skin man. Also I’ve never had anything smoked or made in beer. Can you semi taste that beer flavor in it?
@AndersonsSmokeShow
4 жыл бұрын
Rich! The beer flavor is fairly faint, but you can taste it. What makes these special is how juicy the meat is. On top of the super juicy meat... cooking this is the smoked made this chicken fall of the bone tender! As you can see from the video it was difficult to move without it falling apart! Thanks again for watching and thanks for the support!
Hi. I never cook this before, I was wondering what temp you are looking for the chicken to be done? Hope that makes sense 🙂
@AndersonsSmokeShow

You want the internal temperature of the breast to reach 165F before removing it from the smoker or grill.

Have you tried splitting the difference on temp and just going the whole time at 250? That’s the temp I smoke my spare ribs at, and for about the same amount of time. Tomorrow I’m going to do a beer can chicken and slab together to see how it turns out. Great video. Now I’m off to score some of that sucklebusters rub!

Hey, Big Steve… I’ve done this with soft drinks and wine. Like Andrew says, the taste is there, but subtle. DrPepper is good and for a citrus twist, Sprite or 7Up. Experimenting is half the fun… and the chicken is always moist and good at the end!
@bigstevessmokemchokembbq8746

@@GrumpusOnFire Thx for the info,I like the Sprite or 7Up idea. I've also thought about orange juice or the marinade called Mojo. Either way its gonna be fun and eaten...😊👍
The spoon you used to put the season inside the beer can is a table spoon not a teaspoon. Because a teaspoon is smaller than a table spoon. I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything I was just letting you know. But your videos are helpful because I'm cooking my first beer can chicken next week

Ive had that same smoker for almost a year. Bout 2 weeks ago I was cooking ribs and about 2 hours into my cook I went to check on it and the temp had creepers up to 465{set at 250}. so I opened the door and it flamed up and singed my hair and the grill went into ErL more. I called Pitboss they sent me a new control panel. I installed it and it still immediately gives me the ErL error. won't even come on now. Any idea whats wrong with my smoker? This thing was too expensive to last less than a year?

It's better use a stainless steel container instead of a beer can because the beer can will release the fumes of the pain. That paint is toxic.

Miller Lite? Thought you were making Beer can chicken? Reminds me of a joke. 3 Beer company CEO's were having dinner at a convention, Anheuser-Busch, Molson-Coors, and Guinness. When asked what they'd like to drink, Anheuser-Busch said "We're having beer, so give me a Budweiser." Molson-Coors said "I'll have a Miller Lite". The Guinness CEO turned to the waitress and said "I'll have a Coke". The other two CEO's looked at him puzzled and asked why a coke? Guinness CEO looked back and said "Well, if neither of you are going to drink beer, then I won't either."
