Hi Paula - you can get a paper type cut from the edges of the metal when you are rolling the beads but with a little caution you can avoid this. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for demonstrating the larger bead. I was wondering about that. I am embarking on making dragonflies for Christmas gifts and want to make the beads and wings out of soda cans.

Hello! So glad I found your channel! I have been enjoying making these beads, but I have a question about the coloring process with the alcohol ink. I'm finding it difficult to get a uniform look with the color. As much as I roll the beads around in the container, it seems like the ink dries so fast, only splotches of color end up on the bead. Repeating the process after the first inking has dried just seems to wind up with a sticky buildup on one side of the bead. Is it better to just carefully drip the ink directly onto the bead while holding it on the end of a toothpick? What are your recommendations/suggestions? Thank you very much! P.S. I inherited a farmhouse and barn where a bunch of guys used to have their man cave--which means I've also inherited bags upon bags of emptied beer cans! I have PLENTY of resource material, ha ha!

Hi Heather - If you have heavy spot of alcohol ink you can use a small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol in it. Just spray a little in the container with the beads and shake it some more. I also use inexpensive alcohol inks from Amazon. If you are using good alcohol ink like Ranger from Tim Holtz the ink is very saturated so spraying with alcohol should help a lot to "water" it down. Are you planning on fixing up your new farm house? Hope you have fun with all the cans. 🙂
I think you could use a quilling tool to make these beads. They have manual and electric (push button where you control the twisting speed) I’ve never used aluminum cans for crafting (yet) so I’m not sure how sharp they are. May need to wear gloves, especially with the electric one.

Hi thanks for the info. I haven't used quilling tools. The metal edges of the aluminum can give you a pretty good paper cut so you do need to hold the pieces carefully. The bead roller I use makes this pretty easy to do. Thanks for watching.
Love this! But couldn’t find the template for beads🤷♀️

Hi Cindy, what is the fastest way to get the paint off of the aluminum cans?
@UpcycleDesignLab
Ай бұрын
Hi Deann - I have been meaning to try this method but haven't done it yet. Apparently you can remove the print from the can using a pressure cooker and fingernail polish remover. It sounds strange I know so of course I want to try it. The easiest way is to find cans with plastic sleeves instead of printing but of course this only works if you are able to find them and you also want to consume what is inside. The last method that I have used is a lot of elbow grease and a brilliant pad. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching 😊

@@UpcycleDesignLab Thanks! I tried it but it’s pretty messy!Where can you buy the aluminum cans that you can peel off the plastic sleeve or what product has those, so I don’t have to use the pressure cooker? I can’t seem to find those cans( pretty ingenious if you ask me! That would be cool!

@@deannjackson264 I don't know where you are located or if you like beer. :-) But we have a lot of microbreweries that sell their beer in cans. I think they might use plastic covers when they are running small batches. I don't know this for sure; it's just a theory. We have a local brewery called Bootstrap Brewing, and some of their beers use plastic instead of print. But I have occasionally found them elsewhere. Hope that helps. Happy Crafting, Cindy

Hi Carmen - sorry but the templates are on my blog post. That is the only way I know to host the files. If you are watching the video on a laptop you should see a button below the video that says "Show more". That will take you into the video description. There is a lot of information but if you scroll down you should see in all caps "GET THE BEAD TEMPLATE HERE" this will be followed by a blue link which will take you to my blog post. The templates are located at the bottom of the post. Hope that helps sorry that it is a little confusing.

E e600 glue to glue the beads together

I do love E6000 glue for all kinds of projects but I think it would be difficult to use on this. You would have to have a way to hold the beads together while the glue dried. Thanks for watching 😊
