I am a 40 year high school teacher. After attempting to create this origami dinosaur with my students I am now being ridiculed and mocked. While I am not yet in tears, I have no doubt that upon the end of the school day I will be at home curled up and crying myself to sleep in shame. I have lost all of dignity due to the unclear instructions of this video and believe that a change of career will now be necessary if I want to maintain my mental health.

Just be light hearted and make their next project with skittles or m&ms. Give them a movie day or take them outside. All is not lost. You can win them back over by laughing at yourself in a light fun organic way and moving on. Origami is fun but it’s frustrating. And when ppl are frustrated they can be mean. Just practice it and have yours done at home first next time. Then show them step by step on the monitor and they’ll see how hard it was for you. I’d personally pick a diff origami project and have it made and on my desk or something. You can impress them and keep your dignity. Kids are forgiving. Especially if there’s candy or fun involved. You’re okay. You don’t learn or gain success without failing. Not just once but failing a lot. And that’s a good lesson in life bc plenty of ppl are afraid to mess up and never do anything with themselves. Failing equates to winning if you don’t give up, and you don’t get far if you never fail bc you’d have to do nothing in order to keep the win streak.

Great video, my kids play with this and jumping frog more than toys from the store. One small suggestion. To make it easier to see and keep track of folds, use paper with a different colour on each side. Actual origami paper is more like thin wrapping paper and also two coloured and square. That said, I appreciate you showing a start from typically available paper.

To anyone having trouble getting this model to stand up - there is a way to fix it! If you follow the fold lines made to create the legs and feet, then unfold and reverse fold along each of the lines, it locks the legs and feet in place and makes the model much more stable. This will also leave you with a pair of folds for the belly line - one each outside and inside each leg. If you fold the outside folds in, and one of the inside folds over the other, it will serve to lock the belly in place, and your dino will stand on its own!

The Bible is truth. Please read at least three books, Genesis Mathew and one book you chose yourself. The key is in doing what Jesus Christ taught personally, forgiveness explicitly. To be forgiven we must forgive. Until you’ve dealt with your inner baggage and forgiven your parents specifically God stays at arm’s length. Seriously, there’s deep spiritual significance to that relationship. If there’s love in your heart you forgive. Parents are supposed to be easiest, they’ve loved you. Working though your inner issues and forgiving your parents as an adult shows something really important to God. It’s the mustard seed of faith he wants from us. Please, break down before Jesus Christ, ask for forgiveness, and please, read those three books of the Bible in your lifetime. Please trust me. The Bible is truth. Jesus Christ is the way truth and life.

@@jamesmayle3787 so I know this is an obvious spam bot, but let me just address the rest of the room here and say this; It is morally, ethically, and spiritually okay to not be a Christian. The vast majority of people who call themselves followers of Christ do not listen to his teachings, even though they’re ostensibly central to the Bible; if every Christian followed the teachings of the man to the letter, then there would be no poverty, no homeless, no unwelcome sick and dying. If America was truly a Christian nation, then it would prioritize helping the downtrodden by any and every mean necessary. So please, be Pagan. Be Muslim or Jewish or Buddhist. Be Atheist or Agnostic, Wiccan or Spiritual. Explore what those mean and who you are, both with and without them. And if you come across a Christian who tells you that they follow Christ before showing you that they follow Christ, then run. Because they’re fucking lying to you.

For anyone who has the problem: After making it, it cannot stand and falls on its face. I found that the position of the feet matter alot. Pointing it a bit downward can shift the weight towards the tail and make it fall backward. So you can carefully position the feet facing up or down to shift the balance. Hope this helped.

Plot twist: the origami maker did do this. He set off on his journey to find a perfect paper dinosaur, discovered it inside a different multiverse, settled down in this multiverse, and then travelled back to earth to share his knowledge so that no one has to risk this again. Little does he know that a regular human’s brain is not able to do what his does, as he has gained knowledge you can only gain by switching multiverses.
