    Excellent build. I made two of them using the mat and 4x4 pressure treat. Added wheels so I can move them around. Got one at home and one at the camp. Those Horse stall mats are great backstops, Thanks Jason.

    Those TSC horse mats are useful for so many things. I use them for my home gym floor. At my local TSC you can find thinner mats as well and often mis-cuts or odd sized ends of rolls for cheaper. Hanging a couple layers of overlapping and offset strips of thinner free hanging mats could also work. Screw one layer to the front of the boards and one to the back so that there is a gap between the two for swing of the front layer such that it absorbs much of the energy of the arrow before it hits the back layer. Would be easier to work with also. A narrower strip of thinner rubber will be lighter than a full 3/4" mat. One day I plan to build something like this for my yard.

    Scrap wood projects are awesome to do! I made something very similar out of wood I scrounged off the lake shores/backs of coves when the lake levels are drawn down. Made a nice ramp to get in and out of the boat on to shore out of two 2 x 8s joined side by side. I've used it to get deer into the boat too... I did it because some of the shore may look nice and solid (like stones/rocks/pebbles) but when you step out, boom you sink in over your boots.

    October 1st in michigan and then weekly for the rest of my life with no down time! Will be a ton of hunting videos showing the shots, Blood trails, recovery, boning them out and packing them out coming to my patreon channel! Yourube is too restrictive for full content hunting videos as of last January. So all of the hunting videos will be on the patreon with no chains holding any of my content back! I'm so excited for the season to start.

    Could you tell me, if I need 50 meters of hunting distance , what should be the weight of the arrow? Thank you.

  • @SamkoTradBow

    @SamkoTradBow

    Жыл бұрын

    50 meters is too far for a bow. Too many variables with animals moving etc can happen in the time it takes the arrow to get there. I set a personal max shot distance of 20 yards on animals. So for me I like heavy arrows. For hunting you should be a minimum of 10 grains of arrow weight per pound of bow weight

  • @SamkoTradBow

    @SamkoTradBow

    Longbow and for my set up and since I only screwed the mat to the frame at the top, my field tips only go in about a half inch. The mat swings back on hits and absorbs alot of the energy. That with a 57 pound longbow and 720 grain arrows

  • @mrwipeout333

    @mrwipeout333

    I use a compound bow with a very similar setup and found arrow removal required a significant effort. Then I tried using a dab of arrow lube on the arrow, just on the backside of the mat, and it made removal super easy! Wasn't prepared for how well the arrow lube worked for this task, almost ending up on my butt lol.
