Classic Grinder Sandwich Recipe.
For Sandwich:
1 Italian bread
Olive oil
3-4 slices cured raw ham
3-4 slices smoked ham
4 slices salami
2-4 slices smoked turkey
3-4 slices provolone cheese
4 tomato slices
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
For the Grinder Salad:
2 iceberg lettuce leaves
½ medium onion
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
½ teaspoon oregano
½ teaspoon basil
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Take the sandwich and toast in hot oven for 3 to 5 min. (Depending on temp.) And then, and only then, is it a grinder!

Perfect, except for the mayo.
Sorry, but this is NOT a grinder. A grinder must first and foremost, start with a TOASTED roll. Toasting the bread creates the crunch that sounds like grinding when you eat it. Also, in the shops where I worked, when making a grinder, the cheese was put on last because the sandwich would briefly go back in the oven open faced, to melt the cheese. Putting the cheese on last, ensured that the meat didn't dry out and the lettuce and tomato didn't become a watery mess. What YOU are making, is what is called a hoagie, a submarine sandwich or a Po' Boy, depending on what part of the country you live in but unless the bread is toasted and crunchy, it is NOT a grinder.😕

Turkey???? Nah, Also, mayo is an issue - I think that oil and vinegar are right, not mayo.

Needs a few more ingredients. Pickles, giardiniera and mustard Wheres the capicola? Nice sandwich but but that's not an authentic Italian Grinder.
