This is an excellent video and your content is great. But, I do love the idea of a 17th century bostonian makeing a pizza peel from riven wood with hand tools. I don't know why but I think it's really funny.

I have a piece of red oak 1''x18''x5' I've been wanting to use to make one of these so thank you for the video. Should the paddle and front edge be a little thinner for a pizza peel?

With all those wonderful power tools, wouldn't it have been easier and quicker to run a router and round-over bit around the handle?

The feeling is different. When you do it with a router the handle is identical in the full length, while doing this way you know where you're holding it by the feeling, without the need to look at it.

Maybe if I was making a big batch of them, but it's much quicker to use hand tools on one pizza peel.
