How to make a Wood Strip Cutter

This video shows how I made a Wood Strip Cutter in a few easy steps. This is a very useful tool for model making. I use this tool to cut balsa wood strips when I build model boats and model aircrafts. This is the most efficient, accurate and affordable method I found so far. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need more information. Thank you for watching my video.

Excellent. Suggestion: instead of fixing with screws, you could set the blade at standard widths and at each one, drill a vertical hole down through the top into the movable block. To use, just set it in place with a removable dowel each time - no need to measure and would keep the blade very steady. Cheers and thanks from Sydney, Dave

In addition to an adjustment screw someone else mentioned for setting the cut width, I think I'll add a slide vernier caliper so there's a built in means for measuring. There are adequately accurate inexpensive plastic ones on eBay.

Great idea to cut balsa wood. An improvement would be to use a lead screw to slide the blade. This will make the depth of cut adjustment very easy and precise.

This is very similar to a lace/strap cutter shown in Bruce Grants "Leather Braiding" book. If this was clamped to the edge of a table a full pelt could be worked through it much like and Australian strander.
