How to Make a Toxic Waste Pool // Warhammer 40K and Necromunda Terrain

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I'll show you how how to make a toxic waste pool out of an Ikea picture frame. It's a cool piece of terrain that'll fit your gaming table for Warhammer 40K and Necromunda as well as Kill Team and similar scifi tabletop wargames.
This is probably the easiest project, I’ve started, but somehow I still managed to mess it up. Still, I kinda managed to salvage it and I ended quite liking the results, even though I thought “this is gonna be 💩" throughout the process. Happy little accidents. :-)

That's a really cool idea you could easily throw those down and use them for all kinds of things.

Thanks! Yeah, there are a lot of options. And they're cheap as well as easy and fast to make. Easy to store and probably quite durable. :-)

Great idea for portals too especially if you can get smaller ones that you can have standing upright (on some piece of terrain).

You could use this same technique to create a sort of swimming pool/fountain piece. Just with the center colored blue or maybe a more muted green. The edges could be painted more like gray concrete, or you could go really fancy by adding mosaic patterns (though any way you do it, it'll take a lot more work).

Great video. Perfect demonstration of why I cover everything, everything in a thin layer of Mod Podge. You can literally spray paint foam after a coat of Mod Podge and adds a strength to every project I make that I can't get any other way. Enjoy my friends!

I really like how you had an accident, but then went and reworked it to be a part of your scene. Really fun to watch how to get out of an artistic hole like that.

Two weeks later, and I made my own toxic waste pool following your example. (I made sure to give the frame a good sanding first, so there was no trouble with peeling paint). Thank you for inspiring this project.

I just thought of something, for people who don't like the shiny glass, you can always spray it with some varnish to tone it down. It'll stay just as transparent. There are probably other things you can do as well for fun, like adding various clear resin or acrylic effects like Green Stuff World 'Splash Gel' to add some transparent texture. AK interactive also has a bunch of acrylic water effects that you can either just add on top or add to make ripples and small waves.

A bunch of good ideas there. My initial intention actually was to make a comparison video of different ways of faking water effects, but then I found the picture frame, had a light bulb moment and then this thing kinda took over. :-D

Hi, great video, congratulations! I'm an amateur woodworker and watching your video I was thinking.... Have you ever thought about using a (micro) circular saw to cut this material? With your skill I'm sure you wouldn't have any difficulty. There are kits of circular saw blades to Dremel of about 5 cm in diameter, with a 775 motor the cut would be very easy, fast and practical. The big difference would be the side guide(fence), on which you support and slide the part you want to cut against the saw blade, for a precise cut. This gives repeatability to the cuts. You would have a very useful tool for subsequent projects and it would still earn you another great video for the channel. Hope I helped, all the best.

@@thecultofcrafting I tried both from pc and mobile to confirm it. In this specific case the ideal volume is when the music is barely audible (it changes from one track to another) . this setting is correct if you make montage without speaking. sorry man, it's a pain to learn this kind of stuff. editing suck :)
