How to Make a Succulent Wreath

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Want to see more wreath videos? • DIY Hardy Succulent Wr...
Thanks for watching the video! Here is what I used to make this succulent wreath:
- 16" Wreath Form w/ back,
- 1 burlap bag,
- 17"x17" piece of coco fiber,
- Sharp scissors,
- Hot glue gun,
- Cactus soil,
- Several succulents (about 50- mix of small and large).
- Optional: Wreath hanger, greening pins (to hold succulents in place),
- Moss (to cover areas of burlap that you can still see).
Plant wreath per instructions in video then lay flat to water in- keep wreath on a flat surface for 1-2 weeks so succulents have time to root in and won't fall out when you hang it up. Take wreath down and lay flat to water for good water coverage. Fertilize every 6 weeks with a cactus/succulent fertilizer.

wow. Your method is so different from that of others I've researched and yours makes so much more sense! The others I've seen just use moss in a wreath form--no soil!--which puzzled me because I know the plants will not thrive in moss alone. No wonder those who used that method said their wreaths would only last 6-12 months! I think your method will produce a wreath that will last forever and give abundant propagation bits too. I can't wait to do this. Thanks for a great tutorial.

+Samia Wuilleret Hello! This succulent wreath would not survive cold temps, it has to come in and live inside for the winter months! I would recommend that even if you were to use cold hardy succulents to bring it in anyway. With a soil reservoir so small, it would be tough to have them winter without freezing. :) ~Laura

Hi Sandy- Thank you for watching! :) You will want to take it down (if you hang it) and lay it on a flat surface to water. Depending on where you put it, it will need water once or twice a week. Succulents tend to have a tough time with our afternoon sun here, so if you have a spot with morning sun, it would be perfect! Fertilize every 6 weeks.

I want to make one of these for my mother in-law! She lives in Montana though, winters are harsh. Would one of these survive in that type of climate?

did you keep this wreath for a while? how easy was it to water? i was thinking about making one of these as gift, but if it is difficult to keep, it might not be a good idea.

Your videos are really well done. Keep up the amazing work. :) Could you name the plant to my right, the one with cup like leaves, i've got the same, it rarely blooms red flowers and the leaves smell very fruits all year.

Sahil C Hello! Sorry for the delay in my response! I'm not sure which succulent you are referring to exactly, but the larger succulents in the wreath that form more of a cup shape are varieties of echeveria. Hope that helps! ~Laura
