Wish I’d seen this earlier. I burned with barrel with reg fire for two days. Then for the ground level root branches, blew air through an old thick muffler pipe angled at the target Had a batt Milwaukee blower with low setting. It incinerated what I needed in an hour.

Don’t watch. You’ll be disappointed. He doesn’t finish the burn.

The stump will burn much better if you would drill a vertical one inch hole in the middle of the stump and three or four 1/2 inch horizontal holes at the base of the stump to the center hole.

Great video 👍 though be careful throwing sawdust on the fire as it can flare up to a large fire ball or possibly explode Not unusual to happen at saw mills or furniture shops just ignited from static electricity

Maybe add a variac to the blower so you can adjust speed. If you just need a little more air you can lower it and if you need tons you can crank it up.

maybe a dumb question but could you make a forge like this?

Sooo... what would happen if you did that burn upside down. Attach the blower to the top of closed end barrel; and exhausted the flames out of the bottom on/around the stump?

Thats pretty dang slick! Do you have to have a burn permit for that, wouldnt it be like a campfire? Just asking out of curiosity. I imagine after that time with the forest service or whatever you cant be too careful.

How long does it take to burn a stump? It looks like at least a day by ambient advection, would you say this forced convection is 4x faster?

Because no airflow. Found the best video was: 1) soaked in kerosene overnight 2) tunnel out a section under the roots to form furnace. 3) bore/cut into stump to form a chimney 4) put hot coals into furnace 5) air blower to supply air to furnace. 6) let her burn out. 7) No stump!!!
