Florian Gadsby yes, I did the same :]. It’s hard not to watch the entire video because you truly know what you’re doing. How long have you been working on pottery? What you say about enjoying the trimming resonates with me. I just recently began throwing after a 40 year break, and I realize after thinking about the wood turning programs I've watched in the interim, how much I like that part of pottery making. I did hand building, which I enjoy, and combining the two, but I think it is the turning that I like best. Something about the fluidity that can be captured through turning, mesmerizing. I really enjoy your videos Florian, thank you.

The camera quality, angles, narration, and overall video production were as impressive as the pottery making itself!

I've never watched a KZread video with narration that's so easy to listen to. Informative, calm, interesting, no ego, no bullshit. Such an enjoyable video and the bowls look so good once they come out of the kiln. New subscriber here for sure.

These are absolutely gorgeous! I love how no two pieces are the same. Each piece is organically unique which adds to its beauty. I never knew so much work went into making pottery. This video has given me such an appreciation for the products I have shamelessly looked over in stores in the past. Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece!

I thought the entire point of pottery was to make a dish or pot as perfectly as humanly possible... so the fact that no two pots are the same would mean he failed at his task, unless the only difference is in color which doesn't really matter.

@@sebaschan-uwu “Perfect” in this case still allows for slight variations in the shape and colour, as long as it still fulfils the intended purpose. Immanuel Kant wrote about there being two types of beauty: pure beauty (the kind you look for in art, whose only purpose is to be beautiful and interesting), and dependent beauty. The beauty in functional pottery is of the dependent kind, as it depends on how well the item fulfils its purpose. If you have a favourite mug, it’s probably one that fits your idea of what a good mug should be like particularly well.

Listen to your soothing voice and watching your works feels like meditation...

@@bondfool Sometimes it is but I’d say for the most part it isn’t. The best, most meditative moments are when I’m in the midst of throwing a batch of mugs or bowls. These are shaped I’ve made so many of I can sort of just switch off. Although as I’ve had so much practice I don’t have to fully concentrate, so often I end up just thinking about all kinds of things, so, to solve that problem I stick on a podcast or an audiobook. Those are my favourite moments on the wheel.

Yeah, throwing is an incredibly difficult skill to learn and he's managed to trivialize the entire process. He's fucking pumping out work on an assembly line in his studio like it's nothing. It's so deliberate and mathematic. Mind blowing.

It's not an effing assembly line either - his stuff is entirely hand made, from start to finish, by him. He made it look easy because of his years and years of training, learning and perfecting the skills.

I find this guy so relaxing. Seems like he is well-suited to his calling.

Though laborious, watching his expertise make this look easy is so relaxing. Quite a tenuous balance that makes for a transcendental experience.

Your voice, your explanation, your work, your calmness, just awesome I stayed for full 15 minutes and I am the kind of person who never watches any videos more than 6 minutes. But your video made me stay. Best wishes

Wow.. this video was really 15 minutes?? I watched the whole thing and I swear I didn’t even blink... was so captivating to see the process from start to finish. Had no idea how it was done but this was such an interesting watch. Only clicked on the video out of curiosity, but that was actually amazing!

It's crazy to have been watching small clips of your process for years on instagram to come together in a very neat, through, and satisfying video, very nice! Idk why but the process never fails to enthrall my attention

The magnitude of pots! It looks so deceptively easy. So many to one kiln. The time it takes to make just one and the time it takes to make a kiln full. I would totally starve as a potter. 🤣🤣🤣
