How to Make a Solenoid at home

A solenoid is a device comprised of a coil of wire, the housing and a moveable plunger (armature). When an electrical current is introduced, a magnetic field forms around the coil which draws the plunger in.
Solenoids are frequently used in locking mechanisms, and the scope of locking applications includes many industries. Obvious uses include door locking, in hotels, offices and secure areas, vending machines, remote access systems, turnstiles, car park and access barriers.
In this video, I'm gonna make a solenoid to help you understand more about its working principle.

Mine didn't work either, while I removed all insulation. Tried again with magnetic copper 20 gauge, and also nothing.
