    Hi Michelle! This is a jeweler's ring mandrel vise. This particular model is made for holding a ring mandrel that can screw into it on the end. If you don't want the hassle of buying that specific mandrel and vise, then look into a "table vise" with a swivel head. They attach right to your work surface and allow you to swivel the mandrel to where you need it, once it's clamped in. You can find these online at one of the "big box" stores and they are fairly inexpensive.

  • @JewelSchool

    Hi Dixie! Your husband may actually have this in his tool shed! What Susan is using is a jeweler's ring mandrel vise. This particular model is made for holding a ring mandrel that can screw into it. If you don't want the hassle of buying that specific mandrel and vise, then look into a "table vise" with a swivel head. They attach right to your work surface and allow you to swivel the mandrel to where you need it, once it's clamped in. You can find these online at one of the "big box" stores or your local hardware store and they are fairly inexpensive.

    I always love your videos. They are so inspiring. Would you recommend using a bead stopper on the wire after stringing or do you think it would get in the way of the wrapping? Thanks for your expert advice.

  • @JewelSchool

    @JewelSchool

    2 жыл бұрын

    This is a great question! We realize that holding the beads on can be a challenge! You're right in the sense that a beads stopper would get in the way of wrapping, plus they are heavy for this kind of project. Because the beading wire is 24ga, you can simply use a round nose plier to loop the ends when you are finished putting the beads on. This should be enough to hold them. The key it to be sure you have enough wire to loop! if you take a look, Susan made a simple loop. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZh4xtKpaavZntI.html Hope this helps!

    how do you keep the green or black on finger from wire

  • @JewelSchool

    @JewelSchool

    2 жыл бұрын

    The green stain you get on your finger basically means that the metal in the jewelry is reacting with the acids on your skin. It could also be because of a lotion, soap, or moisturizer you’re wearing that’s causing a similar chemical reaction, but it's harmless. If you have an allergy, that is something very different. Consult a doctor if any metal starts to break you out or causes skin irritation. When it comes to keeping your "made" jewelry from turning your skin green, you could always skip the lower quality metals and stick to using gold or silver. Here is one option that may work for you: get something called ProtectaClear (Amazon $25). It’s super easy to apply and seals and protects all your favorite jewelry without harming the metal. There is also a product called "Jewelry Sheild" (Amazon $4) that is pretty much the same thing as clear nail polish. Hope this helps!

    I like your designs 💕 Are you planning to do a wholesale? One of my web clients is looking for crystals and gem stones here in California to add to his online store. Hope to talk soon. Thanks 🙏

    Hi Marie, Jane is correct!
