How to Make A Round Dice Tower for D&D

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video shows the step-by-step process for making a round dice tower for your tabletop gaming needs.
This dice tower was made using XPS foam from my local hardware store, as well as mod podge, black grey and tan paint, hot glue and cardboard. If you were to break the materials down by how much of each I used, it would come out to an extremely cheap ~5$ per tower. As long as you are willing to put the time in, you will get something great out of this small amount of materials.
Everything that I did on the Proxxon Hot Wire Cutter can be done with a knife on the foam, so no worries about needing the same equipment that I have. Go rock it with what you got!
If you have any ideas for what you would like to see built in the future, let me know in the comments down below! Then subscribe so you don't miss any new videos coming out in the future! Also, if you liked this, gimme that sweet sweet like.

    for a cleaner circle without a jig you can get a flat headed thumb tack and stick it through some tape sticky side down, stick that thumb tack to half the total diameter of the circle you want, pop on a cube on foam and the tack will act as a spindle to turn the foam really steadily.

    This kind of reminds me of those projects we did in elementary school when we had to build stuff out of straws, pipe cleaners, tape/ glue, etc. I had an advantage compared to my peers because you mom was an architect. So when we had multiple days I would just ask my mom, if I didn’t already know. But we ALWAYS worked in groups and my good ideas were usually ignored and if we didn’t win if it was a competition I got to say “I Told You So” Because we are all petty 1st-5th graders.

    I think it would be cool to make a dice tower that is based on a japanese pond. Like the base is a little resin koi pond and the tower bit is one of those bamboo fountains. Like the dice could roll down the fountain spout and into the bamboo tube where it is then dropped into the pond. Watching this video gave me the idea and I don’t think I could do it justice so maybe you could try it? I love your channel by the way 🥰

    Nice build! Looks as good as anything you can buy. The only thing that would have made this better IMO is if you had made a spiral staircase on the interior to make the dice tumble.

  • @Rybonator

    I prefer the drop down style tumble over the staircase, purely from having had my dice stuck in the spirals before. BUT it would be way cooler if I had done that you are right :) Glad you like the build! Thanks :)

    If you have the rounded edged metal dice, I used some to test this, it really still holds up quite well. Note sure how it would hold up over months/years, but I could say that for anything. But yeah if not, you can get some mini bricks of concrete or something for not too bad :)

    You don't need the black base coat. Use the modgepodge + your base color (grey) and it will be more than fine. Additionally I would selectively choose some places to put a lime green on, no tower like that is completely clear of moss.

  • @Rybonator

    @Rybonator

    I like using the black since I only use one coat of gray. It helps me find where I missed paint, and darken the whole thing up when only using one coat of the grey after. Just personal preference :) And yeah you totally can spruce it up however you like!

  • @Rybonator

    You pretty much got it right :) If I can't see them, why bother. I look at the thing from like 360degree angle looking for paint that is missing, and if I see something, take a small brush and touch it up. If nothing needs help, then no worries! You by all means can paint ahead of time, but just know you will be doing some extra work. Let me know how it goes! Send me a pic on twitter when you are done. I've love to see :)
