If you wanna know, here's a trick I learned from my silversmithing course: If you want to sand a flat surface, circles are not the best option. They can create slightly rounded edges on the face you want to sand. A far better method is drawing 8-shapes. It minimizes the rounding of the edges and always comes out better. It worked for me, so I'ma let you all know. Anyways, thanks for the video, I love the new dice-molds and the little gobbo twintig! (I'm a dutch native speaker, so it's a pleasant surprise!) Thanks for the video and have a nice day/night!

Of course you had to give yourself an excuse to paint gold on every set of dice 😂. I love the new set! Though I am a little disappointed you didn’t make the D2 I saw in the intro design. Those are so underrated. I use the ones I got from Dicey Encounters to make so many character decisions when I can’t decide between two options. The other players at my table always know something is going down when I bring out a D2. Still great video! It’s cool to see the new mold system and the dice turned out beautifully as usual!

I plan on making a new mold just for the d2 :) I think the foxpour system doesn't allow for much past the typical 7 set. So I'll have a drop mold made of it real soon! Also yeah, I had to do the gold haha. Glad you liked them verity :)

I've hung out with AJ in person, and you're right, he's a great person. If you're ever in the Cleveland area we should all hang out
For those of you at home who want to make the same type of mold but don't want to spend a lot of money, the only thing you need is polymer clay and a little bit of patience. You put duct tape covering just the bottom number and cut the tape so it doesn't go over the edges of the face. Then you take a pinch of clay and cover that same face as much as possible while not going over the sides of the face. Then you set your dice with the clay sticking to the bottom of your mold container while making sure you don't squish the clay and make it spill over the sides. If you want to be extra sure the clay won't deform and spill over the sides, you can bake it in an oven after shaping it according to each face. When making the second part of your mold, the lid, you just remove the clay (which is much easier to do if the clay was baked) and the duct tape under it and pour the second part. Voila! You've got yourself a mold that will only leave marks on 1 face of your die, cutting down on sanding time drastically. P. S. Make sure you use polymer clay and to test a small amount of clay with the silicone you're using. Some non-polymer clays may prevent silicone from hardening. P. S. P. S. I just reallized Ryb didn't show it or mention it in the video and maybe that's something that's taken for granted so it doesn't need mentioning, but make sure to remove the duct tape before pouring the top part of the mold (the lid).
I’m so happy to see your video in my feed again. I hope you and your wife are doing alright. I love the new logo. Twintig looks even more precious! Munching on those gold bars like the true goblin he is. As for the dice, it truly turned out great. I couldn’t even see the lip on the d6 until you pointed it out. Also, the blue and white smoke give me paladin vibes tbh. Can’t wait to hear what you end up naming the dice set xD

That looked like a metal drill bit. Those aren't great for drilling through things that aren't metal. Next time try a wood bit. They have an extra bit of spike at the tip and the cutting surfaces are a lot more aggressive so it actually cuts instead of pushing it's way through.

Heya! Downpour here (one of the creators of the mold) Our main goal with the mold was to cut back on finishing time for sets. Sanding is the fastest way to kill your hands. This method is by far the best I've come up with in the last two years of crafting.
I love the new logo, I think it's really neat to see a design that incorporates multiple colors into it. It makes me interested in designing an entire dice set around the idea of dual color inks for the numbers. Like, the numbers are broken up into segments or something.
Arcana Cast does a great job with masters, although I made my own masters start to finish, I hear nothing but great things about the masers they make. Another great video with more great dice made by great people. My day has been made, thank you

I'm glad you enjoyed Rico :) Have fun conquering the world you Warlord you!
Important to note not to forget to remove the double-sided tape from the dice before pouring the lid! You clearly did it in between the footage - but you forgot to mention it. If you forget to remove the tape, one of your faces will have no numbers xD (Unless the tape sticks more to the bottom plastic instead of the dice? In which case - forget I said anything. I made a similar style dice mould recently and the tape sticks to the dice better than the other surface) (Twintig does mean 20 in Dutch, but we are harsher with our G sound. I realised your goblin was named 20 a little while back, but it did take me a while just due to the pronunciation of the name :D)
@Rybonator
Жыл бұрын
Good point! I did forget to point that out in the video. I did in fact have to remove the tape haha. So is it pronounced like 'Twin-Tih-Guh'?
@Kirbychao
Жыл бұрын
@@Rybonator Best I can describe it is that we kind of gargle the G. It's a guttural sound made at the back of the throat. It's not 3 syllables like 'Twin-Tih-Guh' it's more like an addition to the 'ti' like, Twin-ti*gargle*. I... I cannot possibly explain it better, haha! I think how you pronounce Twintig does really fit as a name for your goblin though! It sounds pretty cute and is really fitting with the double meaning being that it's 20 like on a D20. Don't see this as me going 'it's wrong you're not allowed to-' cause that'd just be dumb gatekeeping :D
@Seelenschmiede

It's more like a harsh G like in gross instead like a soft g like in good.

@@Seelenschmiede Definitely more like that yeah! Only gross still has a bit of a 'Guh' sound (Guh-ross). But I guess that depends on how you say it... I really don't know how to describe the weird - back-of-the-throat way we do the G.

I'd call them Stormgiant Dice. Because, GMs do need dice, too. Cool set and it's generous of you to give away the STLs again!
When drilling larger holes start with a smaller bit to make relief passes before going to the final size. Significantly reduces chance of cracking/splitting
I've been making molds using baby powder as a release agent vs vaseline and it makes my molds look much neater. Plus if any gets on the dice, it's a lot easier to get off without accidental streaks! Also I've been using mini springform molds with the bottoms taped up all neat to have room for moving the mold around

These dice turned out awesome! The blue and the white swirl turned out beautifully and the little flecks of gold tie it all together. The logo is so cute, I’m glad you’re able to add a little bit of gold to it, but depending on the color scheme you could experiment with different metals like silver, copper, or iron. These dice are totally awesome and whoever gets them is gonna be one lucky dice goblin! :)

Hallo from Denmark. Gorgeous job as always
Ooh, love the new logo. Also if you end up inking it in gold you could always ink the bars silver for contrast
They are giving off hella Spelljammer vibes my dude
Love your Videos! You got me started on a big journey of Dice making! I owe my fun new hobby to you. I actually got down to designing my own masters in Blender with a tutorial/template I found here on KZread. The template comes with faceted options for several dice so now I'm making sharp edge dice without the super sharp corners. I'd love to see what you think of them.
That little touch of glitter is marvelous, and I think this set would be perfect for a genie warlock, specifically a Djinni patron! Speaking of which, I would love to see the other 3 genie patrons and their elements being captured into dice.
I knew of your goblins' name origin because I have a Warforged Rogue called Twintig :P They're a kleptomaniac that must have 20 of each item they find.
Love these dice. They remind me of a bright blue sky with fluffy clouds on a sunny day. I have a few things I'd love to see you try out. I've suggested before a Van Gogh style, (maybe starry night inspired or based on the sunflowers or almond blossoms paintings), which could be even done in a similar style to your Bob Ross set. Another idea I recently had was a rubik's cube inspired set. I would be very interested to see how you interpreted that, I think it could be a really fun set
Awesome! This really picked me up, I just tried making my first cap mold and failed hard. I have so much of a lip on what came out that it would sand away the whole number to fix them. Seeing this video and having new options brings my spirits back up!

this set is as Runescape Wizard Robes as it gets. I'm in love.
Lately I've been making my molds using talcum powder (it has to have actual talcum in it, not all baby powders do these days!) as mold release, and it leaves this beautiful smooth finish and you can use air to blow them off the dice faces. It takes a lot less time to apply, gets in all the nooks of the mold, and is easy to remove. Might be worth trying in place of Vaseline someday!
Fantastic to see a new design!! I have your mold making videos on repeat as they have helped me immensely when making mine. Can I ask a couple of questions? How deep to you set your numbers in your print masters and do you use water on all levels of your zona papers to get that perfect glass finish?
@Rybonator
Жыл бұрын
Always use water when sanding resin- helps prevent it from getting in the air, which is a big nono. And I usually request a while millimeter for my depth on dice numbers :) sometimes I do less, but never below .5mm
after watching a bunch of your videos tonight, i remembered a set of dice i saw on amazon that were like orange with metal looking gears inside, a very rusty vibe overall. i love how they look but i didn’t buy them because i worry they would be unbalanced, and after reading some reviews for that and some other dice, i think some people found that out the hard way. so i thought it would be cool to do that sort of dice but casting any internal bits from the same resin but with different dyes and liquid glitter, that way it’s as close to equal density everywhere as possible
