How To Make A Rolled-Edge Aluminum Bottle Stove

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

"Stove Secrets" - Alcohol stove builds, tips, tricks, and secrets for the true DIY gear junkie. No fancy or expensive tools & machinery required! In this episode we tackle another simple, yet cool stove project... how to make a rolled-edge alcohol stove from an aluminum beer bottle. This lightweight, yet sturdy alcohol stove is relatively easy to make and is ultra reliable. The aluminum bottle stove's double-wall design and rolled-edge make for a sturdy and efficient alcohol stove for ultralight and lightweight backpacking. Best of all... it's free! Also included in this "how to" video are instructions for how to make a die that will not only create the rolled-edge effect for this stove, but allow you to make multiple stoves in the future. Hope you enjoy!

I have more alcohol stoves than I know what to do with, so as part of this video we will be doing an "incognito" giveaway of the stove built for this episode. To enter simply leave a comment as usual and then include a line at the end that says "Count me in". I'll pick a winner in a week or so and get this cool little alcohol stove out to someone. Thanks for playin' along ;-)

Thanks John! As I have said to another poster; "There was another KZreadr that showed you how to do it. After I made a comment "Now I can make my own" He since removed said video. He was want to sell them, and wasn't thinking." Now there is a video out there to show the DIYer how to do it. Keep the great videos coming.

I made a measuring jig and cut all mine with a 90 deg air grinder and a 5in waffer wheel then just took a tapered burr tip with my fingers and reamed what little burrs were inside the cuts. I used a bench vise for making the die and rolling the top. Made a jig on the drill press for spacing the 5/8" pilots. Only had to lay out the diameter lines. I made about 20 in assembly line fashion. Christmas presents for the extended family. I'll give them a stove, bottle of heet and a clean 2 pound coffee can for emergency boiling/cooking when the power goes out.

I just built one of these, and had that song running through my head the whole time! This thing throws out some heat! It outperformed my Trangia burner by a good deal (24oz water rolling boil w/2oz fuel@6:14 vs 11:31), but the Trangia burned longer. If your goal is to boil water, this thing is awesome!

Love the video, and your channel :D I stumbled across this vid when I was looking at how to time effectively cut glass bottles, and have run through all of your stove and survival kit vids in the past little while. Im not a outdoorsman but this is some pretty awesome stuff that I intend to do soon :) I really like how you can distill hand sanitizer into fuel, that will save me a lot on alcohol fuel- meaning more fun (and dangerous- I admit) fire experiments (Im a pyro, guilty as charged) plus this will go great in my survival kit Im developing, and if I decide to go hiing the appalachain trail, I'll have a handy little stove for supper ^_^ great DIY
