To add, maybe an orange tip on the stick to indicate a trigger trip. I'm un Wisconsin, and we fish through the ice with "tip-up" rigs. They have a little orange flag on the tip when a fish tugs on the string. Also, a simple lock will keep the door closed. Screen door kind is smaller.

Awesome trap demo Malc. Love the trigger... very sensitive. Bet that would work well catching squirrels and rabbits to. Thanks, Andy

Good evening from Belgium, making a rat trap following your tutorial, 2 rats were caught less than 2 hours after placing it near my henhouse. I just have to rework the trigger but already efficient. I also have replaced the elastics with an ajustable spring to prevent other rats from gnawing. I have a picture of it but I can't share it here Thanks for your video

Muito boa está armadilha.
I am from Britain have just finished a large compost heap and now have some rats. Two bought traps nothing, I have just made one of your traps out of pallets. 35mins cought one and an hour or so then two together. Many thanks
Brilliant, been trying all morning.I,'ll give it a go.
We've been trying to catch a rat for over 8mos. I've tried all sorts of friendly traps. He's either escaped or ignored them. I found your video, we made the trap and caught him within a few hours after putting in place. Thank you so much for your video!!!
Awesome trap! Ive now made two of them. I caught and relocated 8 squirrels two years ago eating my mangoes and recently caught a juvenile possum(originally thought a rat) in my garage that came in thru an old laundry vent
Im going to make one of those, i got a nuisance rat digging holes in my Allotment! Cheers! Excellent video👍

This is great. I made it and caught a pesky squirrel that had been eating up my mangoes. The Squirrel was later released in a park where people love feeding them. **No animals harmed in this operation*** Update: on 8-11-20, I caught two more in the trap. I used bread with peanut butter on it and squeeze the bread around the trigger. He too got released about 4 miles from my home in a nature park

You could put small magnets on the trap and corresponding screw heads on the door, when it shuts it’ll be solid, this will be extra to stop it pushing it’s way out.

come to Arizona , Ive caught 100 rats and mice in the last two months here in the desert , now the traps are left alone , using old style victor traps and i guess they are new , Koro Rodent trap ..... Koro needs to do some tweeking with the design but damn its a thumb breaker with powerful springs , the kill bar sometimes just hits them in the head and kills them without really trapping it .... check it out if you get the chance , maybe you could improve it with your skills

BUSHCRAPPING we used to catch rabbits in cage traps by baiting with apples cut up and cover the whole thing in fresh apple tree branches . The rabbit liked chewing the branches and then went in the trap for the apple

Would the trigger be pushed more than pulled by rat or mouse? Could have it trigger from side. Trigger is easy to move.

Works well on your finger when carrying the primed box to the location 😀
Like the design but am concerned rubber bands are not secure from escape. If I were to build, I would use a latch that swings into place as door closes, a trip catch if you will.
Show 👍👏👏

That is a rabbit trap and there is no need to use rubber bands the door can be made to slide down by gravity. I and my cousins up in Arkansas made this type of trap for rabbits when we were kids we learned to make them from our fathers that makes them a 100 years old and our fathers learned them from our grand fathers that makes them some were around 200 years old.

Hi you are very clever you can put sping on the sides once the door shuts the mouse can't come out
should use springs rather than elastic bands they can push out & other rats can chew through them & allow for escape [8: 46 check... I should have watched whole video 1st!] nice simple trap Also you can just set the thing in a tub of water & drown the rat

Good
Needs some sort of latch to keep it closed. The rats around here have already proven they can force their way out of a Haveahart trap, those rubber bands wouldn't pose a problem for them. Although that's a simple enough modification.
In India the rat will bite the rubber band before entering the trap!
@JJRSURVIVAL

clever rats !
Did you manage to make a video you got one
Mükemmel.
This trap is similar to the one we have in India.Very very effective . We caught rats in India regularly!!But there are 2 springs instead of 2 rubber bands. Hope this model is good too.

External trigger linkage makes the trap vulnerable to external trigger trips resulting in a no catch.

I've seen several designs like that but a rat can trigger the trap by crawling on top of it thus rendering it useless until reset.
