How to make a PVC Long Bow | JimBowJim Bow SN3

I show you how I build SN3, a long bow made of schedule 40 PVC pipe and a heat gun.
The design I tried uses a V-cut at the tips, and a heat gun + contact cement brings it together. In future I'd try cutting a reverse V-cut instead, saving the middle. I think it would be much easier to keep the bow semetrical. If I try it I'll upload it in a future video.
The string is 550 paracord.
The 3/4 inch diametre pipe allows for an extremely light draw weight even at a smaller bow height. This bow is intended for smaller hands, and for beginners. I haven't pulled it on the scale yet, but it is about 12 or 15 pounds at 28 inche draw. 5-10 pounds was the perfect rance I was looking for, the primary user of this bow will be a 7 year old!

Thank you! I'll try to post more vids of other gettings, measurings, and droppings…not "that" kind of droppings…but maybe some of the ones I've made are kinda "that kind of droppings" quality though 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The trick is to ride a healthy line of constipation. Keep in as much of the diarrhea as possible…nobody likes getting that dumped on them, but give'em the solids straight up. Hmmm…Re-reading all that now, it may not have been my finest metaphor…

@@liveandletfly I wanted it because of the SAS system. Where you can change out your string or cables in the field. When I seen that I was sold. Cost like $1100.00 just for the bow and then you can figure another $600.00 or so for accessories on the bow. I do love how it shoots.

It looks like you burned your pipe a bit. And you flattened the limbs completely rather than with a taper. And the handle section looks too flat. I don't think you sanded it enough either, since you can see the markings through the orange paint.

Awesome observations! Definitely all good notes to make! :-P There actually is a mild taper, but it was minimized to lower the draw weight for 5 and 7 yr old shooters :-D But 6es, definitepy burned a couple spots, but luckily is for a low draw 5-10lb bow, and the paint/sanding could be improved for sure! Thanks for the feedback!

@@liveandletfly I see. You were going for a very light bow for super young archers. That makes more sense. And yeah, for a bow that light, it should hold up fine. I'm used to making PVC bows that are around 30 to 45 pounds, so there's much less room for error. Even so, PVC is very forgiving compared to wood. Personally, if I were making a bow that was 10 pounds or lighter, I'd make it out of half inch sch40 PVC, and I'd do the full flatten or very slight taper on the limbs. That way, it can be a bit shorter and easier for a shorter person to handle.
