The white residue of scale quite commonly comes from mineral carbonate, which can come from ambient CO2 that dissolves readily in water to maintain a shifting equilibrium of carbonates in alkaline pH water. The equilibrium is easily reversed to dissolve the white scale on visible and hidden surfaces. The brush only partially cleans what it touches. Scale on shower-heads, faucet-heads, and other parts where tap water is in constant contact may be dissolved away by completely immersing in distilled white vinegar. You can tell the chemical reaction is continuing as long as you see tiny bubbles. The vinegar reacts with the scale you can see and inside the holes of the shower head and wand. Something to keep in mind is the possibility of scale formation in the presence of certain water-dissolved minerals along the flow of that water. A safety caveat: bacterial growth in non-moving water for extended time periods can occur and should be flushed. The sudden appearance of rust coming from a faucet might indicate a turbulence of once-standing water. This information is suggested in a n OSHA publication of an eye infection from emergency eyewash station usage. Fortunately, home use of water sources are more utilized than emergency eyewash stations.

cut the handle farther back for a longer brush. actually all of the handles on the blue and white dollar brushes can be removed, may not need to cut it at all.

NICE! Use to have homes with enclosed shower stalls yrs ago, and hated the cleaning. TIP: Forget having enclosed shower stalls. Just use shower curtains with liners. The liners are cheap, and can be tossed away at some point to buy another one.
