I reaaally wanna see how they turned out after glazing. I try to do different carved patterns on my plates for the glaze to pool in. But the idea of a little frame framing the food is quite interesting!

@@floriangadsby well...did you ever get a chance to show the final glazed pieces? Beautiful process you have!
Really enjoy your videos, and always watch your cleaning up at the end. I hope you'll do a video showing the end results of these plates. TFS!
You're so hardworking, makes your own products, has so many camera angles, record, voice over, edit wow
Always special, always a reminder of the magic to be found in nature, and silence, thank you 👍😊
Scraping is also one of my fav part when I clear the clay on the broad
Thank you for all the details you put in your videos. It's very helpful! I find trimming plates is a lot harder than throwing them, you make it look effortless!
I hope you have people to help you with cleaning up and all. Can't imagine the hard work you do! Hats off You're super super amazing

Flat is also great!
Beautiful....👍👍👍
Hello :] I'm early for the second time back to back!
Thank you so much for all your videos and such great instructions. Hope I can throw a plate! What do you use to burnish your pottery?
Do u wax the entire bottom of the plate for glazing? That's seems like a large area to keep that bare look on but the shape looks fine. I love these plate videos so far.
Hi, I wanted to say thanks for your detailed videos, they are so so helpful! I have a couple of questions: When you throw the plates, how thick is the base of the plate? And you mentioned you dry the plates slowly over a couple of days. Do you cover them up at all during the drying process or do you let them dry uncovered?
I love pottery
Cool
Hi Florian thank you for sharing this video. Do you have a photo to share of the glazed result? Thanks
A question - do you ever get dizzy while working with spinning plates? Never thought I would experience something like that just from looking at it
What tools do you use, I love the squared corners.
How did you get the bottom of your plates sp smooth before trimming? I did not see any cutting marks from the wire. Exactly what method do you use from after throwing to trimming? Do you wire off the plate and then again before trimming or don't you wire off these pieces? Your response will really better my understanding, thank you! Your work and videos are amazing

Would be great if you can make another video on making bento plates
I love your videos. Could you please let me know where I can find the tool you use on top of a piece when you trim? I too, love trimming. I feel like it refines the shape and makes the clay smooth and soft. I also find scraping the bats. Thanks for giving me the confidence to attempt plates.

It’s made by a potter called Richard Carter on Instagram - (richardcarter6952), you need to DM him and he’ll send you one! Amazing tools.
Is your throwing gauge permanently fixed to your board?
I have a burning question. Since you dont trim a foot ring, do you just leave the bottom unglazed? Is that alright? If it is alright, is it possible to not trim the piece if youre throwing thin enough?
I started throwing earlier this year because my school has some pottery wheels, I am having a tough time centering my clay, do you have any tips to help with this

I’m making a video at the moment that’s just about centring clay. So you’re in luck! It’ll be released in a few weeks hopefully.
Where can we get that white and black spinning thing you hold down your piece while turning it?

From a potter called Richard Carter on Instagram.
How do you know when you reach the correct thickness of the bottom?
One of your trimming tools appears to be a Bison triangle one from which one of the sides has been removed. Did it come this way? Or is this an adjustment you made? You have beautifully maintained tools; I am awestruck by your self-discipline. As many have already said, thank you ever so much for making these really fine videos!

I didn't remove it, he just sells them like that and I love it! So good for trimming straight sided pots.

Hey Florian, long time silent follower. Recently all my large plates have been cracking down the rims and around the area the rim meets the body of the plate while drying. Is this likely a result of drying too quickly? For how long do I need to keep them under plastic after trimming?
@floriangadsby
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Todd! It sounds like either you're trying them out too quickly or perhaps there's a disparity between the thickness of the rim of the plate and the base section. Sometimes if one part is much thicker than the other it'll cause part of the pot to split but rim cracks are famously a result of the pot drying out too quickly. I'll keep mine under plastic for 3-4 days, if not longer if I'm able.

Anyone else now want to volunteer as a bat scraper?!
Me gustaris que sea el video en español
I am more interested in the clay and the making process. It seems that people spend more time on the Kiln. Which is a by part of the process.
I am starting this business please tell me properties 🙂🙂🙄🙏
