How To Make a Pinback Button

Today I'm going to show you how to make a bunch of different pin-back buttons.
First of.. lil shout out to SquareSpace for sponsoring this video!
to make buttons you have a lil plastic mylar disc and the actual tin button.
I found an image I liked.. got the circles measured out to fit how I wanted the button to look.
Then Print it out..
I double checked to make sure it fit the mylar disk, then I cut it out. and were good to go.
So with the button making machine there is a "a" side and a "b" side. You put the tin button face up into the a side and put the printed design on top of that, then they plastic mylar disc on top of that.
you move that under the press and smoooosh it down.
Then put the pin-back part of the button face down into side B.. move that over and smoooosh it down. and there you go!
now that we have the basic button down I tried some other ideas..
First Some flowers that I... uh.. borrowed... to give to Roms on Valentines day.. They were all dried out so I though that would be cool to make into a button.
I cut out the white paper in a circle to fit the press.. and winkled that up then put the flowers on top. It took a couple tires but.. I liked how it turned out:)
Then... I got some acrylic paint and put it in wet so that when I pressed in in the machine the colors would all mesh together and.... yah.. I liked that too:)
sooo for fabric buttons.. I got some clothes from a thrift store to make into the buttons.
One thing I like to do is put a thin layer of screen printing on the back to help hold the button together and stop from fraying.
I just used plastisol ink.. so it has to get heat cured..
So some tips or hints that helped me.. the thinner the fabric the easier it is.. but also there are some fabrics that are too thin or fragile that they will get cut up.. So..
After I made those buttons I thought it would be cool to embroider on one.. I liked the first one of the leaf on the pink fabric.. and the second one was... okay I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
and since I was screen printing on the back of the fabric I thought why not put a lil design on the front of em...

Book pressing flowers and leaves ahead of time would have made it easier to use in a button.

Hmm, I’m an studio art student interested in illustration. This seems like a cool avenue to showcase your art and maybe make some money on the side. Being able to make buttons and embroidery would just add to the creative arsenal. My only problem is I’m a complete novice in many crafting techniques. I don’t even know how to thread a needle...but I’ve always wanted to make my own shirt designs and stuff so I could wear my illustrations and hopefully sell them at conventions or something. Anyway thanks for the tutorial!

I am glad to see you using our Pinback Button machine.If you have a lot of orders and it is too late to produce, I think it is necessary to upgrade your Pin Back Button machine equipment, such as using fully automatic button machine ABM1000.This output about 1000pcs/h pin back buttons .

It's not an industrial machine, those are bigger and automatic. Are you also pissed that you need a sewing machine to sew a shirt? Or a freezer to make ice cream?
