Just a quick question. If I was to make a 15mm Cuban link, what gauge wire would you start with ?

What type of torch is it that you use to initially melt the gold in the first 25 seconds. New to the jewelry world and would like to get some good melting equipment!

Do you mix the gold with silver to make it 14k or 10k

I saw that round bar welded to the inside piece. What is on the inside of the hinged piece to make it click around the bar?

DanielJewelryInc Box lock or sleek lock for Miami Cuban link chain? Which one is lighter and less bulky? You call it a “sleek” lock, but it seems bulkier than the box lock.

Adamas Sleek lock is actually less bulky. It does not have the figure 8 latches sticking out. So to slide in a pendant sometimes the box lock will give you problems and the sleek lock doesn’t. The sleek lock does weigh more as the mechanism is thicker than a box lock. Thank you.

ivan gonzalez marin Neither is better than the other. Both locks are just as secure. You choose one or the other for the look and style of it as both are very strong locks.

KeepItCrump Hi, the sleek lock and the box lock are just as strong. The lobster clasp is not that strong. A good tug on a lobster lock and it will open and it is possible to loose your chain. A box or sleek lock can be tugged extremely hard and it will not break off.
