One thing I can share with my limited experience is that you have to just keep trying. I have been working to pull sponsors together for 3 years, reached out to over 350+ companies. After all of those failures, I finally found a format that has the highest rate of success (Which is still rather low), and am starting to land some sponsors to finish my first year in F4.

I have used Brandon Seaber Designs and Next Level Motorsport for brochures. They are both super busy but anybody like them will do a great job. If you can’t afford a brochure from experts then take a look at Canva, they have many templates that you can edit and make your own

how do i find what I can offer to the companies though? I am still in karts with no way of getting into cars on a national level, I spent big money (atleast in my book) last year and managed to become national vicechampion in the highest level of karting we have here (only other thing is hillclimb and mostly privateers) and im now moving onto european championships (far from the most expensive ones though) I can only do about 4 races a year there I managed pole and p2 in my first of 4 this season (in a lower championship) but I still dont find anything to offer, Only route Im seeing is to do some coaching for people starting out or that are just now taking it more seriously but thats still hard to get anyone and even harder to get enough money for even 1 extra race, live streams have less than 300 people and i just dont see any way to appeal to them.

There are hundreds of ways to earn money. Sponsorship is all about making companies more money and in return you get paid. Get clients for companies and you take the commission. Or promote them on other drivers’ cars who are in bigger championships and you are the broker. You have many options. I’ve listen them all out in Get The Drive

Hey Enzo ,what if it's a small championship with 100-200 viewers with no tv coverage and there are 10 or so people who might be interested in the product the company I promote with a sticker on my car has to offer ? That is basically worth nothing so how do I find ways to get them customers or make it worth while. Most small companies in my country and probably in any country are not going to stick there neck out if it doesn't help them more than it helps you.

Then you go to smaller companies. Bring the budget down first by beg and borrowing things, getting help from mates and favours, spend less on the car and get the cost of the budget down as much as possible. Then get lots of sponsors giving tiny amounts. Plus get out into the world and start earning more cash. We all have the capability of hustling like mad to pay for a small championship. It you get 30 local companies to pay £500 for local exposure, then you will have a good network party on your car and you can build from there. Or sell sponsorship for another driver or team (even a different sport) and take commission from that.

So, let's say you need 20k and you manage to get 8k from some sponsor but still miss 12k and won't be able to race (at least that season/race) what you do? Give back the money you got?

  • @EnzoMucci

It depends on the actual deal, if it was a sponsorship deal where you had to be the driver then in the sponsorship contract you have a clause that covers this. They can choose a refund or for you to hold the money until you are racing (if they have paid already). If it’s a commercial deal, where they have paid for sponsorship benefits (branding, product awareness, etc), then you can do a deal with the or a race team and use them to be your canvas. It means you aren’t racing but at least you keep the sponsor happy and if you do a good job they may put more in the following year. There is always a way round this challenge. Thanks for the question.

@@EnzoMucci thanks! I'm still on karting, but I'm planning how to move up to a different category and I found a relatively cheap one here in Latvia, around 10k per year, although there is almost no public, so I will have to create a decent online presence if I want to get sponsors.

Ah good. You know what, you are probably better off just hustling your back side off over the next 6 months and earning an extra 10k somehow. Might be easier?!?

@@EnzoMucci It could, I'm a product designer (UI/UX) but there is a little problem... not easy to convince the wife that your extra money is not for paying the house but it is for 'racing'. So I'm trying to do something that won't look that irresponsible :D

Ah ok. Do a deal with her, if you can earn extra 20k then you can spend 10k of it on the racing. As a reward 😀

@@EnzoMuccispecially Motorsports is such a small world, unless you are in F1 Hence everything else is arrive and drive, pay to play. No audience for Racing, you have to make your money somewhere else then come spend it in racing.

  • @EnzoMucci

Yes, that’s always been the way but somehow we manage to find the money. Sell the track days and experiences you can give companies with the race car (post Covid), or go the approach of getting lots of small sponsors, and just focus on getting them customers. Companies will love you forever of they pay you to get them customers.
