Anyway the idea is good ( linear motion using ODD drive system), but I dont see the sample 500x magnified. Its just hardly 50x ( Noise resolution) magnified image.

I think you can use that lens from the DVD assembly also that will give you 15x more

HINT: Some webcam's software (ie..Logictech) come with the ability to manually focus without a need for the DVD assembly.

You can improve this by adding the lens from the DVD laser in front of the camera lens (I prefer making that lens adjustable).

By connecting the lens upside down, you will get even bigger magnification. It worked for me at least.

Instead you could just attach microscope slides to a smart phone camera :)

Yes, you can use a cheap chinese web cam.

Great, but, very large DISTORTION & CHROMATIC ABBERATION, as well as very little CONTRAST! I See it as Photographer. But overall a great toy for CHILDREN!
