Nice video! Just the other day I bought a professional lab microscope for only $75 from a vet clinic. The lighting stopped working. With me being an x-USAF electronics instructor it was no problem troubleshooting and fixing! Now I have a microscope thats worth a few thousand dollars that is now fully functional. Its a German made scope also, now one of these cheap pieces of crap from China! My next thing to do was take a webcam and build an adapter that fits right over one of the lenses of this stereo microscope, without any modification to the scope at all. Now I want to make a low power scope that uses the arduino and servo motors to control a platform in xy axis to move the specimen, then the z axis for focusing. I'm browsing right now to see what others have done... such as your project! I also want to use a tri-color LED for lighting. Then either an encoder or joystick for input for xyz control. I downloaded all sorts of software for viewing and modifiying the image in real time, or after taking a still image or video. It turns out that the software from NCH called PhotoPad Image Editor works the best for me, easy to use, and inexpensive! Eventually, I will WiFi all 3 of my microscopes to internet for people to operate! Thanks for the video!!! Thumbs up!!!

As someone with chronic depression; I disagree. The root of my depression is stress related to the difficulty in getting my bills paid; something more money could easily alleviate. My least depressed periods were those in which I made the most money and could not only afford to pay the bills but also to purchase materials for my hobbies. I'm sure it's not the same for everyone but, speaking from experience, money can definitely buy things that can make you happier. That doesn't mean it will, just that it can.

Excellent effort but this is not a useful microscope for an electronic workman. The reason is the object distance is very very less. One can't do work under this microscope. Anyhow it could be better than not one at all.

If you have a detachable webcam, try using it as a microscope. Mine is an inexpensive MS Lifecam and the software that comes with it allows manual focus very close up. It's surprisingly good mag and quality and you can snap pics or shoot vids.

So you're saying you don't believe a free $50+ camera is worth your time to make a short review video? While im not making a video and i'm paying for my camera, i plan on adapting it to use CS-Mount lenses so i can' attach a 50mm f1.4 cctv lens which would make a MUCH better microscope for SMD soldering work, etc. With that setup you'd be able to keep the camera well out of your way while working.
