Did I missed something or are the heating coils directly connected to a AC energy source? AC is extremely dangerous and can easy kill you just by touching one wire and not 2 like DC

Furnace cement is a hight temperate cement used as a mortar or for repairing fire bricks. You should be able to find it at any construction materials supplier like home Depot or Lowes etc.

48 v dc

This is not conecte directly to AC mains but to a 48 V power supply. Pay attention this is briefly shown when he connects the ac plug to the device.

No it does not consume nearly 2000 watts, it runs on 48 volts. 2000w/48v=(around) 42a. And no, I don't believe it draws that amount of current :).
