    Nice video and thanks for recommending my rig! Just a small suggestion. For hair you can turn on the "hair collection" and use the first mesh above the head to extrude the hair (delete the transparent faces first), then translate them down on the z axes (z 2.8 is the correct value). On the head mesh below you can then change the uvs so that it will only display the skin if you already have an extruded mesh of the hair. I hope it helps!

    I will say for anyone looking for minecraft rigs for blender there's many that already exist with their own ups and downs. Thomas's rig is nice, BPS's rig is simple, I've even released a rig (though not as clean does have more features than most) but even then there's so many, But also I do understand the idea of wanting a tutorial as when I started I couldn't do anything and didn't understand half of what I know now and I still have a lot to learn mostly for non mc rigs.

    The reason the IK leg didn't work is because the chain was completely straight, so the inverse kinematics basically didn't have a direction to bend towards, causing it to not bend at all.

    You can actually get around issue with the 120 degree on the leg bend by having the second shape key's "Relative To" field set to the "Leg Bend" shape key as opposed to the "Basis". The only thing is I'm not sure how to set up the driver to make it activate the 2nd shape key after the 90 degree mark.

    @@SharpWind there is a way and it's basically using a uv warp modifier. basically this modifier allows you to control or warp a texture using another object. a common technique is to have an empty as the uv warp target and move it around until the texture fits and then parent that to the rig to keep it in place this will keep the texture looking the same at all times while allowing mesh deformations. or this is just 1 way I did it there could be others.

    It curves them, because it's scaling on the normals of the faces - i've shown how to fix that in the video (scaling individual sides to 0 on their respectful axis) Eyebrows are done in a different way - i haven't really looked into it, but you could always just change their material or do custom UVs, etc.

    1. You need to be in edit mode (press tab) 2. You either need to link selection (the 2 arrows icon in the top left of the UV editor), or you need to select your model and it will only show the vertices/edges/faces you have selected I recommend linking the selection tho

    Hey SharpWind is it Possible to make a 1 Hour long animation in blender ?

  • @SharpWind

    @SharpWind

    I mean, technically you can make it as long as you want, you're just gonna wait for a long time for it to render (and the project will lagg a lot when you add tons of stuff in)

    Hey, @SharpWind. I tried to animate something quick in Blender, but my viewport is slow. The Minecraft build I imported is super tiny but the viewport's frame rate plummeted after the import. Even moving one block is super laggy. I have no idea what to do. Is there a setting I can change to optimize performance? I have an RTX 2060, which should be more than powerful enough, but the lag is bad. One of my projects even crashed on me.

  • @SharpWind

    @SharpWind

    10 ай бұрын

    That's very odd - especially given that you've imported a small world and you have a decent graphics card (which is responsible for viewport performance) Perhaps it's not enabled for you? (go to edit --> preferences and open the "system" tab and see if you can find anything) otherwise, i suggest you search "Blender viewport FPS" on youtube and see if you can find answers from youtube videos (blender has a very active community and there's a 95% chance you'll find answers for nearly all problems by searching it up) hope that helps

    Oh my gosh, I'm dumb. Mineways imported the air blocks and I accidentally left the height at maximum. The data for the model height was lagging everything. It's still a bit choppy when moving the camera (about 30fps at most) but it's definitely better. Now I have another problem: importing vast areas, like a mountain range or an Ancient City, without lagging stuff.

  • @SharpWind

    @@SephticMI oh trust me, I know. The particle method can be a little bit limiting and taxing if you're using cycles (because of the transmission bounces required to render transparent planes, if you're using many. if you're using less, you're basically relying on animated textures, which is just work done in a different software - the math for doing it with nodes can be hell tho) Geo nodes are amazing, i love them, they make everything easier, procedural and flexible, and the 3.5 update has me excited every time i see anything about the latest Blender conference. It keeps getting better!
