    Great easy to follow instructions, just wondering why you need to have the cords so long to start with, when there is so much left over at the end?

  • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

    @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

    3 жыл бұрын

    I design as I go and wasn’t sure of the pattern I wanted to do and how many double half hitches I was going to do. They take up more cord length. Always better to have too much cord than not enough. When I finish my project I then know how much cord I need to finish this bag and I adjust the length of cord needed in the instructions for everyone else wanting to make the bag so there won’t be lots left over.

    Ive made this twice, the second time with 3mm braided cord; obviously the bag was smaller. Any advice on how to adjust a pattern so that it is roughly the same capacity using 3mm cord. I'm new to this so not sure about adjusting patterns accordingly! I love it both sizes.

  • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

    @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

    Depends on the individual pattern. With this one I added more sections at time stamp 26:12. If you want the bag wider than this is when to add them. If you want the bag longer than you will need to think ahead and cut all your strands longer at the beginning to make a longer bag.

    Crafty Patti are you familiar with t-shirt yarn? If so, would this project come out nicely with that yarn? And would the length of the strands be the same?

  • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

    @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

    5 жыл бұрын

    I’m familiar with it but have never used it. It is very stretchy unlike macrame cord which is not stretchy at all. It will give it a different look and the bag will be a bit smaller as the knots will compress more with the T-shirt yarn. To be on the safe side I would leave the lengths the same as I have not experimented with this yarn and can’t say for sure it you will probably have more length left over.

    Such a shame :( got to 53 mins then when you started doing the sides you skipped and I couldn't follow it ? I thought it was a complete step by step :( had to do, undo, do and then throw away - maybe too ambitious but I'd hoped to follow it all the way through copying it every knot x

    Oh dear. At 53 min I was forming alternating square knots until it forms a triangle and then I carried on to the next section. So sorry you were not able to follow it.

    Crafty Patti - first time at trying something so hard so I was just trying to copy each step. I didn't understand how far across to go or what I was meant to do with the 8 strands? Not to worry, like I said maybe a bit too ambitious - will try the coasters with all the left over rope 🤣🤣
