How to make a machinist hammer
For hammer head I used 1 1/4 by 3 1/2 inch solid brass and for Handle 1 inch aluminum bar machined to .700 towards the head.
Parts press fitted together with shop press.

I made my hammer with a piece of steel tube. Turned down 2 endcaps and silver soldered them on then filled the tube with molten lead then drilled and tapped the endcaps to accept a brass and a Delron face. Used a threaded insert into the lead to secure a simple wooden handle. I cannot say that it is the most beautiful tool ever made but it is nicely balanced and very useful.
I like the press fit over threading it with a grub screw.
Nice work!
Wow! That’s amazing! 👍
Excelente trabalho. Obrigado por compartilhar.
Really like the simplicity, since it will be something that will get it's share of use and abuse....
Nice make. I would have put the handle in the freezer and heated the head then joined them together as I would make it at home. I suppose being in a workshop, there is no use of a freezer. Nice style, I like it.

I think that's best. You don't get a second chance at fitting them
Great work! What is the weight of the brass?
Nice hammer, how did you grind the shaft to blend with the head?
