This video demonstrates how I make my soft hard splint nightguards. This type of nightguard is perfect for patients who have sensitive teeth. Most patients that do not wear their nightguard daily experience pain after a few days due to teeth moving. The soft liner is a great alternative due to the manual adjustability. Just soak in warm/hot water and it softens the material just enough to adapt to moving teeth. Appliance takes a few extra steps to make and a thermal forming piece of lab equipment. I also recommend using bioplast before fabricating to achieve a much clearer nightguard. This material is placed on upper model before fabricating. It was NOT shown in this video.

    No. I put it in a water solution. Sometimes I'll duplicate the models and send them back on the model. I guess it depends more on the Dr.

    I have a tip for u .... there is a rail of "erkodent" that has the soft and the hard side all at once. has only once deep-draw. and I also think of the material better than that of "sheu" .... is just my opinion .... maybe you like it as well :-) Best wishes!!!

    Hi Steve! I just found your channel and I'm so thankful for your videos! are you just using wet pumice and rag wheel to polish? Thanks! Also, what do suggest to polish soft night guards and make them looking not so dull? I took a look in your amazon shop too and have a few things in my cart!

    Thank you, rag wheel wet when pumicing, dry when polishing. If you lightly (very lightly!) Brush a flame over edges of soft nightguards, mouthguard material it actually Shines up really sweet... too much you will melt it! Very lightly!

    Hi Steve, thanks for this very helpful video! I tried the same technic to build up the acrylic on my soft/hard sheet, but after hardening in the pressure cooker it looks cloudy even after I ran through all the polishing I normally do for dentures. I wonder if there are any tips to come out with a nice and clear result while using salt and pepper technic? Thanks!

    Hi Angela it's going to depend on which acrylic you are using, how much heat in pot and how long under ar least 26psi. A lot can go wrong if you are not doing everything correct... yellowish, cloudy. Definitely hit it with some mineral oil. That will help a lot

    What was the use of the extra acrylic, could the thermoformed part be used alone as a nightguard?

  • @SzaraDentalLab

    @SzaraDentalLab

    Sort of. The acrylic helps the teeth have something to guide especially while sleeping when grinding usually takes place

    Hi Steve, so just a little question, is the soft side should contact with lower tooth or the hard side ? i was think maybe should be soft side so its not damaging lower tooth

  • @SzaraDentalLab
