oh wow this is amazing and exactly the kind of galaxy pattern ive been looking to try!! my mold and resin will be here tomorrow and im so excited!!!!

Omg I literally said the other day to my partner about giving resin art a try coz hes missing a piece from his board and wanted to look for a set of pieces that was unique looking and this popped up in my feed...thank you

Hey sweetie I love your work but maybe just a quick tip I can give you whenever you pour on your last clear coat of epoxy You might want to scuff the surface or sand it with at least 300 or higher grit so the epoxy can have something to adhere and grab onto. I actually had a layer of epoxy start peeling because I didn't sand or scuff the surface underneath it so there was nothing for the epoxy to grab onto and with time it started peeling in a separate layer. 😢

How do you do the galaxy pieces? Do you drip alcohol ink into the molds? Or mix colors ahead?

i pour resin down halfway & then drip in alcohol ink & add more resin! the colors will swirl in on their own:)

Mine would not dry when I added the alcohol inks to the pieces . What is your suggestion ?

Would putting the pieces in a vacuum chamber help to degass them

When you are layering the colors and clear resin you said you do two layers. Do you let the first layer dry before doing the second layer?

Yes, i do sell them!:) I also work on custom chessboard orders! For regular chessboards: 10x10 $140 & 13x13 $175 For specialty chessboards like the galaxy one/ chessboards with flowers or pictures & such i have them at 10x10 for $160 & 13x13 $195! It’s the chessboard with all 36 pieces:) Also, thank you for watching !

How do you avoid air bubble in the board? I had issues with that. I ended up having to add more epoxy and had to recreate the lines.

yeah i absolutely HATE the air bubbles! That’s why i top coat all my chessboards, and i use a toothpick to fill in the little air bubbles with my top coat resin!

Add some 99.9% isopropyl alcohol to your chess pieces before pouring your resin into them…. That helps preventing air bubbles that don't rise… your boards are beautiful!

I put the tape around the sides so that when i do the topcoat & it leaks over the sides the sides & bottom don’t get any resin on them! :)

The resin that I got seems to behave differently than yours. It gets really hot when it starts to harden and melts my cups. Yours also seems to give you more time to work with it.

i’ve tried out many different types of resins over the years, my favorite so far have been Let’s Resin & Unicone Art! they have about a 45 min work time and they’re the most odorless resins that i’ve tried as well!
