Started watching ur video because of this Tutorial. Thanks for showing us how it’s done. Made my first gaff yesterday. Hello from California.
That was an awesome video Nick! I like learning new things and as many fishermen I take pride in my work and the time it takes to dial it all in. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Mahalo!

By the way...I have a pretty big collection of lures but have yet to own one of yours, how would someone on Kauai get ahold of one?

Awesome video my friend! I wasn't about to pay 150$ for a decent gaff. Much rather make one like that for much less money. Not to mention the bonus of taking pride in making your own custom gear!

Hey thanks for this. What's the diameter of the wood rod from Lowes? Is it poplar, maple or oak?
If I made this gaff this gaff longer would it still work for lifting uluas up ledges by the cliffs?
Thats some good stuff man. Im sure it would be okay to paint it first if i wanted a little more color?
@RAHfishing
5 жыл бұрын
Yes 100%. I would just make sure that the paint wouldn't react with the epoxy.
Do you know the name of epoxy you use from fiber glass Hawai’i?
When you do your pull through,pull the loop until it gets to the grip then stop and cut the tag 1/2" long and when you pull it through our stays burried under the wrap.

Great video, just cut a ton of bamboo from our dock and wanna use it for something constructive.
What size gaff hook do you recommend?
Uncle for the Apoxsee do you mix them together because I’m confused about it I got the gaff head
@RAHfishing
3 жыл бұрын
Yes its a 2 part mix 🤙
Do you see any reason not to cut a groove to fit the shaft into so i t sits flush or near flush?
@bajadan2769
2 жыл бұрын
I think that's a great idea - keeps it from moving side to side - solid
Mahalo
Being as they aren't stainless and just duratin coated how well do those mustad gaff hooks hold up in saltwater???
@RAHfishing
3 жыл бұрын
Very good. No issues as of yet.
What size hook is that?
What epoxy are you using? Mine dried so fast and made it hard, yours look more watery
@RAHfishing
4 жыл бұрын
Could be a couple of things. Epoxy was old, ricing ratio wasn’t correct, it’s a fast set epoxy.
Nick, any place locally you can buy the gaff head?
@RAHfishing

POP has them in stock

@@RAHfishing thanks Nick! My son and I love watching your videos every Sunday! Keep it coming. BTW I looked through your previous videos but didn’t find any that shows you how to set up your poles to troll (I.e. what type of lure to use, how far back, speed, color, etc?) if you don’t have one can you make one? We have tried trolling and have not caught anything yet, not even a nibble. Lol. Any help would be appreciated! Side note, I am hopping we can get one of your 100% when you release this Friday. If we can’t catch with that, I know it is us. 😬😭
Where can you buy the gaff head on Oahu?
@RAHfishing
4 жыл бұрын
You can find them pretty much everywhere. Pop, J&E Fishing supply, Roy's, West Marine, and a bunch more. 🤙
What kind of string was that? Was that rigging string?
