I've watched a half dozen videos on how to tie this knot when making a sling. This video made it clear how to tie the knot.

The first knot, which looks square, is traditionally called a crown knot. The going round and up the middle is called a wall knot. Old nautical rhyme: First a crown, Then a wall. Tuck up, And that's all. I think it's useful to name the parts. They can be combined differently to make different knots, and knowing their names helps to internalise each step.

fantastic, just tied a crown knot job for a dog toy. and finished it off with this thing... it has a bit of a gap in between so I can fasten my "dragging" rope lol

I like these better than the 2 stand diamond. it just seems to straighten out more congruently.

That's how I stop my four strand braids to make key lanyard/leashes.

I have a rope necklace a freind mad efor me it has. ABox Knott at the bottom I came here hoping to be able to fix it cus the end knot that connected it together came undone, didn't learn to fix it but I learnt how to do a different type of Knott so win win

Can you do this knot with 8 strands? And...if so would you just double the strands from 4 to eight?

The first knot you tied is a crown knot the second is a wall knot ok you tied a footrope knot now if you roll the crown knot down over the wall knot you will end up with a diamond knot

two tries.. snarled mess each time... ugh. it's a great tutorial.. i just cant get it. regular ol knot it shall be.
