    Excellent video. Thanks for providing the measurements of the fabric for a standard pillow. I can't wait to try this. I'm going to use the dust ruffle that came with my comforter set since I don't use a dust ruffle and the fabric matches the back of the comforter. Thanks for reminding me to wash it first!

    Hi Michele, I can't think of a good way to do it with the flanges, but if you make it without the flanges, you could put a zipper on the bottom. This video shows how (the zipper part starts at minute 6:00): kzread.info/dash/bejne/iXxlz9Wucsivcps.htmlm

    Question. When cutting the backing fabric you say to add 8" and then you say "That makes mine 35" x 23". When I add 8" to 29" I get 37." So which is correct?

  • @onlinefabricstore

    @onlinefabricstore

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Sue, sorry about that! Either one is actually fine since the amount the back pieces overlap isn't all that important. Adding 8 inches (39 inches total) is a little safer to make sure the opening doesn't gap, especially for fuller pillows.

    What is the total amount of fabric required for two shams? You mentioned 2 yrd in the video but it seems 1.5 yards would be enough?

  • @jcm4923
    @jcm492323 күн бұрын

    So is your sham one inch smaller because of the seam allowance? That's the only part that's not clear. It seems like you cut the fabric the same size as the pillow plus the 3" for the flange but then said that it's one inch smaller to make it fluffier. So, is it the seam allowance that makes it one inch smaller? Also, you said to add eight inches to the width of the back piece, so that you can cut it in half for the envelope effect. But your measurement ( 35") only reflects adding six inches, not eight. Am I not understanding? Please tell me if I am getting this wrong! However, your assembly is very clear and your pillows look great!

    Dimensions for front cut at 23X29. Says to make the back 8" larger but she cut it 23X35? So which is it? 6 or 8"?

  • @onlinefabricstore

    @onlinefabricstore

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for spotting that error! It could be either, really. If you have a very full pillow, a larger overlap is better, so go with the 8 inches. Otherwise, the 6 inches is generally fine, but 8 inches wouldn't hurt.

    I am trying to figure out your measurements. You have a standard pillow (20×26) with 1 1/2" flange. You then said to cut the back the same height as the front piece (23×29) and 8" longer. That does not add to 35" in my math. Please help! In the beginning you said you would make the sham 1" smaller than the pillow. I am confused.
