How to make a Dummy Roman Blinds

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This Dummy Roman Blind is brilliant and cost effective, it saves you money all round - on fabric on accessories and even making time. It is fantastic and still looks natural and original. No more effort needed in operating a pulley system. Just make it, put it up and admire it. A perfect solution for dressing a window.

I too make drapes and blinds for people. I live in Canada and we do things the same way here. I love your instruction videos. They are very informative and you get right to the point. I will be starting my dummy roman blinds for a customer tomorrow. I will be sure to check your videos for anything I am making in the future.

Nice video. Good instruction and tips. I think I would like to see more of the folds rather than having them all tucked under the front one. I like what you did with the wood strip and suggestion about velcroing it to the window.

Hi des, could you possibly do a tutorial on how to add a flap/return at the side of a roman track to hide the track end? X

  • @DesSwags

Forgive me for not doing your request. My workroom is not ready to be used as yet so I’ve got to think about the easiest way I can show you but in my mind under a Roman blind, it might cause a bit of a bump at the front which may look ugly, giving the appearance of shoulder pads. Because you’re going to need Velcro at the top of the return and underneath the return, so when you put the return on the mechanism, you need the Velcro on top to receive the Roman Blinds and that’s where the pump will occur.

I think if you had a 7 inch fold at the top then an 8 inch below and a 9 inch below that it would look like it was bunching like a real blind
