    This really is the best of the best when it comes to making relaxed roman shades. I have watched approximately 20 different video's on how to make a relaxed roman shade and I keep coming back to this one. You are detailed without overdoing and you appropriately emphasize important techniques and items. Thank you

    It's like if you two had a child it would look just like your son.... :-) This is the best video. I am so glad I found this channel!!! This and the cushion vid are so helpful. Need to watch them all! I have two chair height 60's wood stools that the wood is covered with fabric and continues up into the cushion. They are made so beautifully and I would love to recover them so if you could just run out tomorrow and find some of those and then do a tutorial for me on how to upholster wood, that would be really great!! :-) Your explanations are really good and you're all very well spoken. Thanks again!

    Adding white vinegar to the water in your iron does, indeed, help make beautiful creases. However, you should be very careful not to hold your face about the resulting steam as it will burn your eyes and lungs. I learned this the hard way while making cheerleader uniforms with pleated skirts. :)

    Hello Elizabeth, Thank you very much for viewing and commenting. With or without glue you really cant beat vacuuming and spot cleaning. Its the same for furniture as well, you will get years out of them if you do. If your like me its finding the time to do that is the problem. Cheers Paul

    I have made traditional Romans in the past but attempting this relaxed roman. These 2 videos have been so helpful. Thank you so much. I do have a question I hope you may be able to help me with though. I am making a wide triple swag relaxed roman shade for a window that is 70 in wide. I want the finished shade width to be 76, as this will be an outside mount. I will be adding pleats (2 pleats into the face fabric at the center lifts) to give the swags a little extra fabric to swoop. My question is... Do I add the pleats into my blackout lining also? or do I keep the dimensions of lining without the pleats to ensure my desired finished shade width stays at 76"? Hope this makes sense and you can help me out with this planning before I start the construction.Thanks

    Great video, and very informative. You've made something that, to me, seems daunting, seem fairly easy. One question: I don't know if I missed it, but I did not see the link at the end of the video for ordering the track and mechanism. Would you be able to comment with that information?

    I am attempting this with very little sewing experience. I am adding a liner that is not heavy blackout type like you have used, just a cotton to give it more privacy, my face fabric is a white linen. My question is, will this give my shade enough structure for the pleats? Thanks so much for your help!

  • @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello Chris, thank you for watching the video... You should have no problem with pleats using the non blackout. In fact the thicker or heavier the liner is makes for channeling pleats. I hope this helps you. Again thank you for watching. Cheers, Paul

    Great teaching! I have only done faux shades prior but about to try this. Couple of questions. Which Rowley kit did you use? There were several on their site. Also, if I don't want it to be relaxed could I not add rings in the center and another shroud cord up from that? I might need to do two sections to keep them even - my windows are 35" wide.

  • @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    Hi there Patty, The kit from Rowley is called EZ Rig soft shade starter kit. If you don’t want it relaxed then you are making a flat Roman shade which requires rings in columns about 9 inches apart. What you are describing is a double relaxed shade and I will try to attach an image for you in the bottom of the comment. Thank you so much for watching the video sorry for the late reply I’ve been extremely busy. Please share the videos with others it does help us when you do, all the best, Paul

    Hi! I’m making a stationary outside mount. My outer trim to outer trim is 51.2. My fabric is 55.5. Can I make a smaller seam to make this work or is it best to sew on another bit of fabric since it will be hidden in the seam? Thank you!! Very educational video.

  • @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, you can make a smaller seam on the sides. The simplest way to accomplish that and keep everything neat and tidy is to do what is called a "pillowcase hem". That means you would trim your face fabric and cut your liner. If you have 55.5 usable face fabric and you need a finished shade width at 51.5 you would cut the liner at 48.5. 51.5 +51.5 =103 total front and back of shade; 103-55.5=47.5 (plus seam allowance 1) liner cut at 48.5 inches wide. Once you have that completed you can sew the liner to face fabric right sides together on the left and right. Now you have a "tube" of fabric, invert the tube and iron the side seams so that you have equal amounts of face fabric on each side. Hope this helps!

    Does anyone know if the EZ Rig Soft Shade Starter Kits can be cut in half to make 2 24" shades? I do not see an option to buy shorter kits.

  • @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello there, thank you for watching the video. The answer is yes, but you’ll need to order an extra clutch because because they only give you enough for one shade. Order an extra clutch and you’ll be fine to cut it in half. Thanks again for watching I hope this helps. Cheers, Paul

    Hello. Thank you for the detailed video. How could this be modified to be a pleated London shade?

  • @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Holly, Thank you so much for watching our videos! Great question, yes, you can modify a Roman shade to look like a London shade. To do so may sound a bit complicated however the pleating system is similar to the pleats in a sofa or chair. If you have any questions on how to do that I’m more than willing to explain it further. All the best, Grant

    Can this 15 inch "smile" on the lower edge of shade be used on an interior mount?

  • @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    @ucsolutionsgivingmore

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Kirsten, Your question has a two part answer. Yes the shade can be used as an inside mount. Just keep in mind, If you want total coverage of the window then make the corners (left and right) of the "smile" come to the sill of your window. If total coverage is not necessary then the bottom of the "smile" (the center) can come to the sill. I hope that helps. And thanks for the question.
