Really enjoy your vids and the invaluable information that you share. That being said, ( and this is just my opinion as a welder,) you probably should of had someone with a big welder sew your axle up with a 6010 root pass, and then cap it with a 7018 cover pass. That is a structural weld on that axle, meaning, your welds are the only thing between your boat and the asphalt. I hope it holds up for you. Just wanted you to know that little 120 flux core probably didn't penetrate the base metal like you think.

Can you simplify that terminology so I can understand what to do? What would those passes look like? Should I add extra brackets?

@@TinyBoatNation from what i saw i dont think the weld penetrated very far. If not rewelded... Then separate triangle flat pieces should be welded on each side and welded by a stronger welder to be a very strong bond that takes over as a main weld for the welds you did.

6010 and 7018 is just a particular welding rod used in traditional stick welding. They do make flux core welders that will weld thicker steel, but they are generally 240 volt machines. Generally you will bevel the end/s that will be welded. First weld is called the root pass to ensure penetration all the way through. Then you fill up the rest of your bevel with a 7018. Check out weldingtipsandtricks on you tube.

I love your videos. As a welder by trade, your skills have come along nicely. I would give you some advice. Alway weld flat if possible. I would have rotated it to weld all sides flat. That being said, you did a great job Bro! Have a blessed day.
