But isnt this whole contraption unnecessary. The travel distance is exactly the same as the spring its attached to and the spring is parallel to travel distance.

Seems like a lot of bearings serving no obvious function like the bar leading to the suspension, any reason why it isn't just a straight pipe?

Because of a glitch happening when you stress out a suspension piece by trying to have it flex or move in a direction it is t supposed to, if you do, it will either make everything spin or have it be like frozen in the angular position it is when getting glitched. Having this bar makes the suspension be able to compensate for those unintended stresses and therefore cause no glitch.

what if the suspension glitch happens anyway and how do i fix it?

You can fix it by making it havier, like puting tier 3 concrete on your build
