You could cut the bolts to size and use capped nuts on the inside, or secure the nut and bolt with a washer through some thick foam on the inside so the foam around the nut is raised and protects your rod more.

Dude, just heat up a tube in the boiling water and force inject the bottom cap, you don't need a sleeve. Also cut off half of the top cap, it will be enough, but opening will be much easier. Also rope handles are lighter, just put through a hole and make a knot, soft pvc tube handles are optional.

Great video - I use something similar when I travel with my rods from the UK to New Zealand - I lock the caps with screws and check the whole thing into the hold luggage. I like your idea on the handles though - I will try that! Where did you get those from? Many thanks!

I agree with a few people. It would cost $9 bucks if someone gave you all the material. Looking online for PVC looks like you have about $100 in pipe materials.
