Kimmmmm!!! Thank You!!! My husband gave me his card to get a sublimation printer which I told him it was like $600. After watching your tutorial I am about to finesse. I can get an eco tank printer and throw in a heat press and get my needed supplies all under $600😉. One of THE best tutorials Ive ever watched. I love the tutorial because your instructions were clear. You did not assume your veiwers were not beginners with this. Also you weren't chatty. Sometime tutorials can be long and drawn out which makes me fast forward pass vital points. 5 stars and I just hit the bell, now you can't get rid off me. Keep up the good work!!!

Amazing ! I've been sublimating for probably 20 years now and when I first started the ink was astronomical. You could put it in a plain old printer but the price of the ink was probably three times the price of your printer. So now I guess I'll be getting myself a new printer and some sublimation ink and starting my business all over from the get-go. I asked for a nice mug press for Christmas because I'm tired of putting them in the oven and then in a bowl of water. Thank you !

This way is much more economical for the crafter. If you were thinking of starting a business where your volume would be high, I would suggest looking into the Sawgrass printer. @@thephotobug55 Hey Sheryl! The best are expensive unfortunately. The Cricut EasyPress is the least price for the quality. You'll want one that will cover the entire area in one pass so you don't get ghosting on your design, so if you can afford it, go bigger and then you can make big and small. AND you want something that can hold a consistent heat of 400. I have a Cricut EasyPress and it works great, but I really want a larger StarCraft press so I can make full pattern flags and things. Hey Barbara! If you've used the Epson, put ink in the tanks, then unfortunately no. It needs to be a new printer and it has to be an Eco-Tank. As for the MugPress, I have lots of videos on how to use it. Really easy and you'll love all the things you can make! I am just starting to get into sublimation. I have a heat press, but may have to wait a bit to get the printer. Until I do get one, I am planning to use the sublimation pens with my Cricut, and ink infused sublimation papers. You can get those papers from Cricut or from Amazon and other suppliers. I'm not familiar with all of the Epson printers, but the key is the EcoTank (refillable ink tanks). I would contact Epson if you have any doubt about refillable ink. I'm confident they would help you out to sell a printer! 😊💕

For the mugs, it is much easier to customize white. So if you want a red mug, I would suggest adding the red, along with your design all at once. I added a light pink design to light blue and it turned grey. 😬

There are some amazing Sawgrass printers that are perfect for professionals and small business owners, but if you're just looking to craft for fun, this is the best choice out there right now. Please tell us what type of fabric in clothing work with sublimation ink. Is it like Cricut's polyester only? Are we limited to only Cricut blanks for tshirts and other clothing?

Hey Vicky! You are NOT limited! A polyester blend, at least 40% polyester works best. I have a video going live tomorrow where I sublimate onto a Amazon basics tank top and it came out beautifully! Hey Viki! They need to be sublimation, but if it's fabric you can also get things that are at least 40% polyester and sublimation will work. For other items, you need them to have a poly coating for the sublimation ink to stick. Cotton and non-sublimation surfaces won't work. Thanks so much for watching and happy crafting! 😊💕

Would one be able to convert an ecotank to dtg? If one built a base for a shirt, would the eco tank nozzles work on a garment? Are the more expensive Eco tanks a better choice. Does it matter? If the et can't be converted to dtg. What can? Thank you.

Hey Naomi! I've not worked on dark colors yet, but I was just searching for the special paper this morning. I'm not sure about white specifically since that is the absence of color and printers don't have white ink. I think you would have to do color on color, or use a white shirt and knockout the text on a color so that the white shirt shows through the ink. Hope that makes sense and happy crafting!! 💕

Good morning! A few things to look at. 1. Sublimation ink is duller on the paper than it is once it's heated to 400 degrees on the substrate (cup, tshirt, etc.). 2. You must use a sublimation approved substrate (cup, tshirt, etc.). Regular materials won't take the ink and will come out dull. 3. When you print on your sublimation printer, make sure you're choosing a "photo quality" print, otherwise your converted printer will hold back some of the ink and your project won't be as bright. I hope one of those things helps you determine what's happening with your project. Thanks for crafting with me and see you in the next one! 💕

FYI been sublimating for years as part of my business- sub ink pigment settles, if you'll shake gently before putting in the printer the colors will be more vibrant!

Hey Ryanne! Sublimation is great, but if you have a die cutting machine like Cricut you can use permanent vinyl and make her mug. (Hand wash.) Here's a quick video showing you how. HI Crisnamorte! Yes, this process can work with any of the EcoTank printers. Just make sure it's new, with no ink ever passing through the machine. Hope you get to try sublimation out. It's so much fun! 💕

Hey Peggy! I'm not familiar with the particular printer, but I can tell you that the key is the printer being an EcoTank so that you can fill and refill the ink yourself like I show in the video. It's not really that the printer is special, it's the ink and your ability to fill it. Hope that helps and I hope you get to try it out! 💕

So sublimation is basilly ink that gets pressed into the t shirt or where ever u doing unlike vinyl which is pressed onto the t shirt for example

Hi Janet! Yes! Sublimation is the process of heating ink into a substrate (shirts, mugs, wood, etc.) anything with a polyester-ish coating or material that is at least a 40% blend. Thanks so much for watching and happy crafting! 💕

Can you switch the ink back to regular ink for just printing? I would like to use it in my classroom when I am not crafting.

Actually, you can’t. 😳 The printer needs to be brand new, and then once it’s converted it should stay that way. Because it’s not only in the tanks, it goes in throughout the printer. Sorry!!

Will this work with Epson - EcoTank ET-2850 All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer? I searched high and low for the et 2720 with no luck 🤧. This was the best video by far! And I really have been trying to figure this out and I think I might have just found it here 🥰. I just want to know if it can work with the newer model since I just ordered it just for this.

Hey there! I'm so glad the video was helpful. As for the newer printer, the key is the refillable ink tanks. So if you can fill your own tanks like I show in the video with sublimation ink, it will print. Hope it works out for you!! You'll have so much fun sublimating!

Out of curiosity do you handwash the mugs or is it dish washer sage so the lettering/design doesn't come off?

Hey J! If you're sublimating, it's completely dishwasher safe. You can wash away. Vinyl on the other hand can peel away after a hot dishwasher. Thanks so much for watching and happy crafting!

I have one of the epson workforce printer that uses cartridges; will that work or does it absolutely have to be the ecotank type of printers?

Hey Jess! Unfortunately it has to be the EcoTank because you have to be able to change the ink. Actually with the EcoTank you never put in their ink, you put the sublimation ink in new. Thanks so much for watching!! 💕

Great video, why don't you remove the ink from the bottles it comes with, clean the bottle and add the sub ink and transfer it with the manufacturer nozzle? Should make filling tanks much easier

Hi Kim, I am really interested in buying a new printer and setting up as you've done, but I've read about ICC profiles to get correct colour management, have you felt the nead to do this, or did it come with the print ink, not sure if it's needed as also read it needs connection to Corel or PhotoShop software which I don't have as I can't afford the subscription. I am quite a new user of the Cricut Maker and want to do more with sublimation etc. Great video, thanks in advance for your help :)

Hey Karen! Okay, so this is my perspective on all the color management. If you are crafting for fun, the color variations are so slight that it's not necessary and this printer and ink work great. If you are starting a small business and you need precise color, skip this printer and get a Sawgrass. They are professional grade and very precise. The price tag is of course higher, but it includes the software as well and you don't have to do the work arounds like I've shown with Cricut Design Space and Canva. Hey there! So this is truly the easiest way. As for printers, you must have an Eco Tank. A regular printer will not work. You have to discard the regular ink and fill the tanks manually, like I share in the video, with sublimation ink. And yes, you do have to use sublimation blanks or fabrics that are at least 40% polyester. Thanks for watching and best of luck with your business! 💕
