How to make a buzz coil Part 2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I go over the individual parts needed to make a buzz coil section by section and show how to put them all together for a working strong spark plug. Don't use MSD coils they don't work for some reason with this set up. Stick with the inexpensive black ones. I got mine from Napa

Excellent presentation. As a kid 61 years ago (I'm 77), I made an exhaust pipe/spark plug flame thrower! Running down the road in our 52 Plymouth, you turned on the coil (spark plug), turned off the ignition of the car, press on the accelerator to feed raw gasoline out the exhaust pipe, and ADMIRE the long tongue of flames coming from your exhaust pipe! It was 6-10 feet long and scary! Kids do fun shit! In the mood, I bid on a Model T coil today on E-Bay!

Thank you for a great video especially part 2. To anyone- had a hard time finding a "normally on or closed" relay. I modified a "normally off or open" relay by adding a contact inside where the "arm" rested.

This is a brilliant tutorial, if you happen to be in Australia the parts might take a bit of research ie there are several different 5 pin relays, most places (Autobarn,Supercheap,Repco) stock the NAVA brand. I tried a standard relay but it didn't work. What did work was the Changeover Relay part number 68044BL. For the capacitor I had an old one from a Ford V8 distributor. This tute says to use a 600volt capacitor the Bosch ones I tried were both 0.22 microfarads with max 400v. Worked fine

They might be too small I just went with the 600v ones from the beginning and never had a problem with them. Once I had everything grounded better with bigger wires it worked perfect ever since.

Make sure every ground wire is grounded individually on the body of your project and make sure your wires are not too small.

Awesome video..........can you show me how to build the pulse jet engine now..............lol............that looks really complicated. Does the ignition continue to fire the entire the pulse jet engine runs or is it just used to start the jet engine? thx

Great Job! Sorry if I missed it, but do you have a part # for the coil? It's a coil for solid state ignition systems but that shouldn't matter as both the old kettering coils seem to work too. You get a much faster spark than the old Radio Shack relay that I used. You have hit on a great combination of parts and it would be nice to know exactly what they are. You did show the condenser part# .

Make sure all your ground connections go back to the negative on the battery.

Yes but you would have to flip on the switch on and off as you rev it up unless you hooked up a relay triggered at a specific rpm range

what if you put the capacitor lead on the negative terminal of the coil and ground the body of the capacitor to the coil body would that work as well?

I ran into the same problem and ended having to ground each part individually and had to get bigger ground wires. The electricity is not grounding well enough so it makes it discharge inside the relay.

You should upload the video! I think I ran into the same problem until I had the battery grounded with at least a 6 gauge wire to the metal object your trying to jump a spark to.

@Robertksinmi1992 Its just another name for ignition coil thats wired to a relay because it makes a buzzing sound. Hence buzz coil

On ebay type in "5 pin 30 relay" and then sort price lowest to highest. It will pull up a bunch that come from Hong Kong for like 2 or 3 bucks.

Hello, I got mine working, however, I only get short bursts of about 2 seconds....not a steady stream. I am using a 12v Lawn/tractor battery. Could that be the issue?

Would this work for an exhaust flame thrower setup.? If the car runs Ritchie already.. Don't know if you're familiar with how those kits work. But there's something in the system that shuts off the ignition system momentarily allowing fuel to pass through the combustion chamber being ignited. I'm trying not to use shutting off the ignition system because the car already runs Rich any input would be greatly appreciated best regards.
