I would recommend removing both hose pieces between air filter and turbo and plugging this device directly into turbo housing. Cause if you do it like in the video, a lot of your air is going to escape via the CCV and possibly cause you to raise PSI to damaging levels in an attempt to compensate. Hint: If it's not your uppipes, 90 percent of the time it's the intake plenums (bottom two legs of spider, OEM orange sleeves) that are the culprit. Don't go all muscle man on them though because you can bend them out of shape! :(

Good thinking, but that's not actually how it works. The engine produces 30psi of boost on its own, and you need a fraction of that for boost leak detection.

@@TruckStuff1 look at the comments from DonziGT230, Therealslowerthanyou, and Kevin Bragg... they are all saying the same thing I did regarding needing to bypass the CCV hole that the bracket between the two pieces of black hose from your air filter to your turbo has. Or you can do it your way and plug the hole, either way you want to try and avoid blowing air into it. It's unnecessary and possibly damaging.

Add a T-valve between fitting and cap. Allows you to keep the aur hooked up constant and turn the valve to cut off air flow.

What about the ccv? Do you have yours to atmosphere? Or is it still connected like the factory

So you just plug in the intake and do you wait for a pressure drop or keep constant pressure on it

So no problem pressurizing the engine block through the CCV?

Haha you bought the DeWalt bits... Should've bought the DeWalt drill too. That water/soap thing is a PITA. Build a smoke tester. It's well worth the effort. Anywhere you see smoke, there's a leak.

I was getting ready to mod mine soon. Am getting new boots and would rather not have the oil on them

I'm Doing this! So, if I pressureize to 20 psi, how long should I wait to see if pressure drops off? I have no clue as to what is reasonable, or minor. Thanks for another great tip! I will check back to see if you have other related videos...nice to see one working.

I know this comment was 8 years ago but I feel like I have to respond just in case lol at 25 psi there should be a 45 second gape between 25 psi and zero. I hope you haven't gone eight years without this answer haha

@@butterkiawa I wonder if the 45 second rule applies to this tester. Beings his tester is hooked to the air filter side of the crankcase ventilation tube. This means that the crankcase is also pressurized. I believe, although could be wrong, that the pressure drop should be very slow. That is unless the pressure blows the dip stick out of its hole.
